After he was culled, the Wraith tried to feed on him but couldn't, so they turned him into a Runner -- the inserted a tracking device in his back and set him loose, so they could hunt him down,  possibly  just for sport. He hunted them back and kept on running. (Runner)
He had to stay on the run, never stopping anywhere -- the one time he tried, staying in a village for one night to eat a real meal and talk to some people, the Wraith came by after he left and killed everyone. (Runner)
Seven years after he was culled and tagged, his life was saved by Ford on P3M-736, and then he captured Sheppard and Teyla, who were looking for Ford. He made a deal with them -- if they got the tracking device out of his back, he'd help them capture Ford. (Runner)
He's smart and technologically savvy, but not dependent on tech. (Runner)

On Sateda. (Runner)
Or possibly in Sateda -- it's not clear whether Ronon was referring to the planet or the city when he said the name while looking at pictures sent back from a MALP. But I'm going with that as the planet name until I hear otherwise. (Runner)

Lived on the run for seven straight years. (Runner)
Held in light confinement (comfortable surroundings, but with guards on the door) when he first went to Atlantis. (Runner)

He was a Specialist in his world's military, before being culled by the Wraith. After being culled, he was turned into a 'runner' -- he had a tracking device implanted in his back so he could be hunted down by Wraith -- and spend the next seven years running, hunting and being hunted by Wraith. He didn't dare stop near people, for fear of sentencing them to death when the Wraith tracked him there. (Runner)
Ronon wasn't sure he wanted to stay on Atlantis, and wasn't sure how well he'd fit in.  Sheppard thought he'd be fine and started him on a 'training' round: training sessions with soldiers who basically got the snot beaten out of them, and weapons practice where Ronon proved he could shoot basically anything you put in his hands. Ronon believed these were tests, not training, and that he had to prove himself to Sheppard. The next day, Ronon took it on himself to spar with Teyla, taking her down for real (although not hurting her). He seemed a bit taken aback/confused by Sheppard's reaction, which was to pull a knife on him until he let Teyla go. (Duet)
Sheppard invited Ronon to join his team. While Ronon was thinking about it, he went back to a session with the soldiers, turning into more of a real training session, as he walked them step by step through what he was doing to take them down. (Duet)

Had a Wraith tracking device implanted in his back near his spine, inserted without aid of anaesthetic. (Runner)
He went through several botched attempts to get it out, including once by himself using a mirror to see what he was doing, before Beckett came to the cave he was staying in and surgicially removed it --  again  without  aid  of  anaesthetic,  at  Ronon's  insistence. (Runner)

Note: Wraith are very, very hard to kill, and humans may have access to medical help. A kill actually has to be confirmed by someone on the screen, or has to be incredibly obvious, for me to count it.

He had a Wraith tracking device implanted in his back for seven years before Beckett cut it out of him. (Runner)
Ronon refused anaesthetic, and managed not to flinch during the crude operation (sitting upright on a rock outside a cave), but fainted after it was over. (Runner)
He'd to remove it three times previously -- once by himself using a mirror, and other times by two different doctors, both of whom botched it and left him scarred. (Runner)

Apparently, anything he can get his hands on. (Duet)
He was on the run long enough that being able to eat a real meal that someone else had cooked was a treat, and he seemed very happy with the quantity of food on Atlantis. (Runner, Duet)

He prefers his own weapon to any of the Earth-standard ones -- it looks almost like a sawed-off shotgun that shoots varying intensities of energy blasts. He carries it in a holster as a sidearm. (Duet)
