General site info

Ongoing plea to site users:
If you spot something that looks very badly punctuated (as though there's a comma, semicolon, or dash missing), please let me know. At some point in the past year, almost all of the semicolons on the site have been eaten by my HTML editor. The only way to replace them is to go find where they're missing. I'm catching as many as I can as I go along, but it's going to take me forever on my own -- I'm very fond of semicolons, and use them a lot. Or used to, anyway... Thanks!

Made corrections/amendments/additions throughout the site, according to emails sent to me over the past several months.

Most of these were minor enough not to warrant a full listing here.

Part of the update included filling in information from Avenger 2.0, since the main events of that episode were confirmed in Reckoning part 2.

Basic universe

Stargates

Dialing

Stellar drift

The gate network needs to undergo periodic correlative updates to compensate for stellar drift. Although no one at the SGC has ever witnessed such an update occuring, Sam believes that the gates dial each other automatically to transmit the new coordinates that apply to each address. (Avenger 2.0)

Other races

Tok'ra

Known Tok'ra:

Thelass

He was the Tok'ra who contacted the SGC when the stargate network started failing, to inform them that gates were starting to go offline for unknown reasons. The Tok'ra hadn't been told about the SGC's plans to infect one of Baal's principal naquadah-mining worlds with Felger's stargate virus (which Baal discovered and re-engineered into a system-wide virus). (Avenger 2.0)

Bits & Pieces

Links

Added site banners for people wanting to link to the Handbook.

Medals

Updated Sam's medals to include the Air Medal ribbon (finally) and the Meritorious Service ribbon.

Nitpicks

Individual episodes:

Children of the Gods

When SGs 1& 2 dial in from Chulak at the end of the episode, the control room is lit with the bright, flickering light of an open iris before the iris is actually opened. While the wormhole was definitely engaged, most of its light was trapped behind the iris, with just a little leaking around the edges from the rear.

The Enemy Within

Continuity glitch: Teal'c forehead tattoo is upside down in the room where he's being held,  but  rightside  up when he's being questioned by Colonel Kennedy.

Spirits

The SGC appears to receive an IDC before the incoming wormhole is established -- a staff sergeant informs Hammond that " SG-11 is returning"   and  Hammond  has  long  enough  to  say  " there  better  be  a  damn  good  explanation!"   before  the  kawhoosh. It's possible that this was a scheduled return, but Hammond's reaction strongly suggests otherwise.

Forever in a Day

In the hallucination, how does Daniel know that Teal'c killed Sha're/Amaunet? When Teal'c comes in, Amaunet and Daniel are staring directly at each other, and he's there only long enough for the gun to fall from Daniel's fingers and hit the ground before he shoots Amaunet, who looks shocked to see him there. Daniel's hallucinations all occur within those same few moments, but he clearly understood that it was Teal'c who killed her. It's possible that Sha're had a split second to glance over, or that Daniel spotted him in his peripheral vision, but neither one is particularly suggested by what we see -- they're very focused on each other, and on the ribboning going on. (It's also possible that it doesn't matter -- Sha're planted the idea of someone killing her so Daniel could deal with his grief and move past it, and it was just coincidence that it was Teal'c in both the hallucination and reality. But that's a little odd, too, since the reality was so exactly like the hallucination.)

The Tomb

Continuity glitch: Teal'c had never been able to sense Goa'uld before this, so why did he suddenly have that ability, four-plus years into the series? (Back in second season, in Need, Sam could sense that Pyrus wasn't a Goa'uld, but Teal'c never said he could also sense it. He did say he agreed, but the feeling I took away from that was that Pyrus didn't behave enough like Goa'uld  to  convince  Teal'c.)

Reckoning part 2

Threads

Moebius part 1

Moebius part 2

Fixed broken links and typos throughout the site.

Updated the Site Index through Moebius part 2

Added a new page: Altered timeline

This covers information from the altered timeline during the Moebius episodes that doesn't belong anywhere else, including character info and a specific timeline of events.

Added a note to the front page:

Moebius parts 1 & 2

Obviously, much of what happened in these two episodes doesn't apply to anything after Moebius part 2. Any information that stays the same after the timeline alteration (or that can reasonably be assumed to stay the same) is included in the appropriate places in the site, but as soon as the timeline splits -- i.e., as soon as Daniel finds the book in Catherine's effects in Moebius part 1 -- almost everything is listed on the Altered Timeline page. Nothing there counts as genuine history for the characters or universe post-Moebius.

Updated through Threads.

Stargates

Dialing

Addresses

It's possible -- though not easy -- to dial every available stargate in the galaxy at the same time. Baal did this when Sam and Jacob needed a way to disperse an energy wave against every Replicator in the galaxy simultaneously. (Reckoning part 2)

Timeline

Updated through Threads.

SG-1 members

Jack

Romantic interests:

Kerry Johnson

She was the CIA person Jack dealt with regarding the problem of Goa'uld potentially left on Earth after the Trust was taken over. They appear to have become involved very quickly. (Threads)

While Kerry was at Jack's house, inside looking for dinner supplies while Jack was outside grilling steaks, Sam came over unannounced to discuss her second thoughts about her wedding. Kerry walked out onto the porch into the middle of the discussion and did her best to handle an awkward situation gracefully, inviting Sam to join them. Sam had to leave after getting a call that her father was in the infirmary, sparing them all the possibility that she might stay. (Threads)

Kerry apparently decided that Sam was an unexpected, very large, stumbling block to her relationship with Jack, and decided to get out before she got more involved and possibly got badly hurt. She went to Jack's office to say so, telling him although they were good together, he had " issues [...] one big one in particular." She told him he shouldn't let Air Force rules and regulations stop him from being happy, and suggested that he retire if that's what he needed to do. (Threads)

Career:

Base commander:

Baal came to him asking for help against the Replicators, but Jack refused to give it, preferring the notion of Baal dying at Replicator hands. When Jacob protested after Baal's hologram disconnected, Jack said he wasn't ready to sacrifice Teal'c -- who was off on a mission with the rebel Jaffa to try to take the Temple of Dakara. (Reckoning part 1)

When Baal returned a second time explaining that the situation had grown more dangerous, and that he needed Jack to destroy a weapon on Dakara while he held his forces back, Jack was flummoxed. Baal told him that Anubis had returned, making Jack much more amenable to working, briefly, with Baal to destroy him. (Reckoning part 1)

The Replicators invaded the SGC on his watch. He immediately issued a base lockdown and evacuated everyone possible, and got permission to deploy a 10-kiloton nuclear bomb to destroy the Replicators. When word came that six people, including Siler, were trapped on Level 8 with no access to the escape hatch, he took Reynolds and went after them. (Reckoning part 2)

The Replicators swarmed toward them all after the rescue, but then diverted up a hatch. Jack assumed they were heading for the surface, and sent word through Walter that Hammond should detonate the bomb the instant he safely could, without waiting for the eight of them to get out. Instead, they headed for the gateroom, hoping to restore power and control fast enough to gate offworld before the bomb went off. Although that wasn't going so well, they caught a break when Daniel managed to get control of the Replicators temporarily, freezing them all in their tracks. Shortly after they started up again, the stargate opened an incoming wormhole and the disruptor energy wave surged through, destroying all the Replicators where they stood. (Reckoning part 2)

Food preferences:

Steak

Either he likes his steaks really well done (read: charred and rock-hard), or he lost track of what he was doing while cooking for him and Kerry Johnson. (Threads)

Tuna (Reckoning part 1)

Old timelines

Original timeline

Traveled back to 3,000 BC with the rest of SG-1 in the time-travel ship they found on Maybourne's world, in an attempt to find and take a ZPM from Ra before he could leave the planet with it. Jack was the pilot and the one who made the device work. (Moebius part 1)

The day after they arrived, while observing one of Ra's public audiences, Jack drew his sidearm when Ra threatened two of his worshipers, wanting to kill him then so he wouldn't have to in 5,000 years. Sam stopped him, and one of the worshipers was killed. (Moebius part 1)

After they stole the ZPM, they found the jumper surrounded by Jaffa and didn't dare disturb the timeline any further by taking it back. (Moebius part 1)

Trapped in the past, Jack and Teal'c couldn't take the thought of living out their lives under Ra's rule, and tried to kickstart the rebellion. Jack, Sam, and Teal'c were all captured and executed. (Moebius part 2)

Interim, altered timeline

See Jack O'Neill on the altered timeline page.

Random Misc.:

Refused to speculate on what Daniel might or might not have done, after being snatched by the Replicators -- he wouldn't say tha Daniel was dead, or that he was ascended, or that he was fine -- not without proof one way or another, which they didn't have. (Reckoning part 2)

Grills on a hibachi. (Paradise Lost, Threads)

He wanted to use the time-machine ship to go back and watch the Cubs win the World Series -- Sam wouldn't let him. (Moebius part 1)

Daniel

Other family

Nick

He was at the funeral for Daniel's parents, and afterward, took Daniel to a restaurant where Daniel ordered waffles. (Threads)

Friends:

Catherine Langford

They met when she recruited him into the Stargate program, and after Daniel got back in touch to tell her about finding out about Ernest, they appear to have stayed in fairly regular contact. (Stargate the movie, Torment of Tantalus, Heroes part 1, Moebius part 1)

She died in late 2004 (apparently of natural causes) (see note). (Moebius part 1)

Daniel had spoken with her just a week before her death. (Moebius part 1)

He spoke at her funeral, about her sense of wonder and how important she had been to his life. (Moebius part 1)

" Catherine Langford was more than just kind and generous. She had a gift of an endless, open-minded, child-like curiousity. She saw the world not for what it was, but for what it could be. And she saw potential in people that others failed to recognize. Like her father before her, her contributions to science have changed the world more than most people know. I, for one, have no idea where I'd be today if I'd never met her. She changed my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined." (Moebius part 1)

She left him her Eye of Ra pendant specifically (her niece Sabrina brought it to the funeral to hand to him), along with " a few odds and ends" -- basically her entire collection. According to Sabrina, she thought of Daniel as a son. (Moebius part 1)

Among the collection was an original 1889 edition of The Eye of the Sun -- the only one in known existence -- detailing the symbols and rituals of the worshipers of the sun-god Ra. It included a drawing of what could only be a ZPM. The worshipers referred to it as the Heart of Light. (Moebius part 1)

nb: Technically, as of the end of Moebius part 2, none of this had happened, including her death -- the episode ended two weeks before Moebius part 1 began. But since the timeline was smoothed out, I see no reason to think that Catherine didn't die at some point after the team came back from their fishing trip to Jack's cabin.

Possessions/controlled:

Replicator-Sam stuck her hand in his head and shoved him into a faux world -- which he was aware wasn't real, but wasn't aware had been created by the Replicator. (Reckoning part 1)

He was back in his tent among the nomad people he'd descended among, dressed as Arrom. " Oma Desala" appeared and began telling him he had a choice to make, trying to guide him toward finding the Ancient knowledge he needed to defeat the Replicators. In reality, it was Replicator-Sam, trying to get that knowledge for herself to defend her brethren. (Reckoning part 1)

He flipped control of the situation, going into Replicator-Sam's mind (with the aid of some of the Ancient knowledge she'd retrieved from his subconscious) while she was distracted by what she was seeing in Daniel's mind, and began tracking the movements of the Replicator army and learning how she controlled them. When he realized that they'd invaded Earth, he called her on it, saying she'd lied to him (and when Replicator-Sam, surprised and angry, accused him of tricking her, saying " You tricked me first" ). Replicator-Sam tried to leave his mind after she figured out what he was doing, but by then he'd gained enough control to stop her, telling her that it was too late for her -- he was learning to control the Replicators. (Reckoning part 2)

When he finally knew enough he siezed control of the Replicators, stopping them in their tracks, literally, no matter where they were. But to do so, he had to release his hold on Replicator-Sam, who escaped his mind and ran him through. (Reckoning part 2)

Confirmed deaths:

Run through by Replicator-Sam aboard her ship, right before it disintegrated around them. (Reckoning part 2)

This is again only partially a confirmed death, since once again he was given the option to ascend, and thus existed in another form for a while (even if it was a limbo-type form). But his body did die. (Reckoning part 2, Threads)

This could also have been listed as a presumed death, since his friends had no idea what had happened to him until he descended again. (Reckoning part 2, Threads)

Ascension & post-descending

According to Oma, it was Daniel's decision to descend after the events of Full Circle (although he didn't choose the naked part himself). (Threads)

Second ascension

When Replicator-Sam killed him by running him through, Daniel ascended again -- sort of. Oma brought him partway and told him the choice was his, again: ascend completely, or be dead. (Threads)

She brought him to a place he recognized as the restaurant where Nick had brought him after his parents's funeral. He'd ordered waffles then, so Oma brought him waffles this time, as well. (Threads)

outside-the-show-universe note: this was Der Waffle Haus, from Dead Like Me.

One of the other patrons handed him a newspaper (the Ascended Times) with his picture in it and the headline " Jackson Still Undecided" , which also had an article about Anubis's plans to wipe out all life in the galaxy. (Threads)

After reading the article about Anubis, Daniel asked if Oma  was going to do anything to stop it. When she said no, and told him that he couldn't leave to handle it himself because he wasn't ascended yet (walking out the door would mean choosing death), he asked her to ascend him. She pointed out that the rules would forbid him from helping his friends anyway, then got a bit testy when he pointed out in turn that once he was ascended, he could choose to take human form again. She told him that while that was true, he wouldn't be able to ascend again, because she certainly wouldn't help him a third time. (Threads)

He started talking to the other patrons in the restaurant, to no avail. Oma told him they wouldn't talk to him: they were actually the Others -- some Ancient, some not -- who were there to watch both him and Oma. (Threads)

The only one who would talk to him called himself " Jim" . He seemed friendly but kept pushing at Daniel, dropping bits of information and distrust about Oma, until Daniel finally followed his clues to the knowledge that Oma had been the one who ascended Anubis. Oma, furious, kicked " Jim" out of the restaurant, and started answering some of Daniel's questions about Anubis. He was horrified when he realized that the Others let Anubis run basically free just to punish Oma -- she had to stand by and watch as he wreaked havoc, unable to interfere. He confronted the Others, saying it had been long enough, again to no avail. They totally ignored him. Oma stopped him, gently, saying that to the Others, it was clear that they hadn't made their point: she kept breaking the same rule, helping people ascend. It was her only way to atone, since she coudn't undo the damage she'd already done. (Threads)

When " Jim" came in again to basically gloat about how Anubis had tricked the Jaffa into dividing their forces, and was busy killing the Jaffa left to guard Dakara, Daniel started wondering what it was he had against Oma. When Jim said he thought Oma was great, she'd ascended him, Daniel finally twigged that Jim was actually Anubis. When Anubis gloatingly talked about going back to take care of things now that his forces had retaken Dakara, Daniel tried a last-ditch method of stopping him -- ran straight at him. And through him, since Anubis was energy and Daniel wasn't. Seeing that was enough to tip the balance for Oma, though -- she told Anubis she was going to do something she should have done a long time ago, and then engaged him in a battle that would keep him totally occupied. As long as she was fighting him, he would only be able to fight her back. They vanished in a tangled ball of glowing energy. (Threads)

Daniel somehow ascended all the way at least long enough to descend properly (this time, naked in Jack's office), apparently with his memories intact. It's also possible that while he was ascended, he slowed/stopped the base's self-destruct, which had been engaged as soon as an unauthorized dial-in had started up, on the assumption it would be Anubis dialing every gate in the system to send a killing blast through. (Threads)

Old timelines

Original timeline

Traveled back to 3,000 BC with Jack and the rest of SG-1 in the time-travel ship they found on Maybourne's world, in an attempt to find and take a ZPM from Ra before he could leave the planet with it. He made contact with two locals and made arrangements to stay with them till the next day, when Ra was having an audience. (Moebius part 1)

When they headed back to the jumper with the stolen ZPM to find it surrounded by Jaffa (and pretty clearly outlined by the drifted sand piled up all around it's cloaked form), Sam told them they had no choice but to lie low and hope to participate in the uprising against Ra. They couldn't risk fighting the Jaffa and altering the timeline. Daniel suggested putting the ZPM in the First Dynasty tomb that he knew would be discovered a month before they'd left in the time-travel jumper, to make sure that it arrived in the future even if they couldn't. (Moebius part 1)

Trapped in the past, Jack and Teal'c couldn't take the thought of living out their lives under Ra's rule, and tried to kickstart the rebellion. Jack, Sam, and Teal'c were all captured and executed -- Daniel was the only survivor.  He  continued  working  with  Kapet for five years until the altered-timeline Sam, Jack, and Teal'c arrived. When Jack and Sam were in danger of being captured or killed by Jaffa around the jumper they were trying to fix, Daniel, Teal'c, and Kapet started the rebellion. It appears to have worked. (Moebius part 2)

Interim, altered timeline

See Daniel Jackson on the altered timeline page.

Misc.:

After his parents's funeral, Nick brought Daniel to a restaurant where Daniel ordered waffles. (Threads)

outside-the-show-universe note: this was Der Waffle Haus, from Dead Like Me.

Apparently takes or keeps his notes rather haphazardly -- when Jacob/Selmak were using Daniel's notebooks to translate Ancient writings, Selmak remarked that " ... and if there is an organizing principle to Doctor Jackson's notes, I have yet to discover it." (Reckoning part 2)

Sam

Other family:

Her father died in late 2004, when Selmak died. (Threads)

Romantic interests:

Pete

She brought him to the SGC and all the way down to level 25 to meet Jacob -- without telling him that's what she was doing. She claimed it was to keep Pete from getting nervous ahead of time, but didn't deny it when Jacob suggested it was to keep her from being too nervous. Later, she pushed Jacob for his reaction, not thrilled with his " He seems nice" . Later, she switched to being not thrilled with Pete when he kept calling her in the middle of a briefing, going so far as to go through the base phone system claiming it was urgent (he wanted to talk about flowers for the wedding). Jacob didn't help, asking her in front of everyone " Weren't you supposed to meet Pete at the florist this morning?" and pushing it when she said no -- through gritted teeth. Jacob was very pleased with himself when Jack chimed in to tell Sam to " go pick flowers" , since it was her day off anyway. Sam was not amused. (Threads)

She was stunned when he surprised her with the new house he'd just put a downpayment on -- it was the sort of house she'd talked about wanting, but it caught her completely off-guard, and pushed her deeper into second thoughts about the wedding. She went to Jack to talk to him about it, wanting to tell him his reason for having doubts, but was distracted first by his new girlfriend (Kerry Johnson) coming out of his house, then by a call from the base telling her that her father needed her. (Threads)

After Jacob, on his deathbed, told Sam not to let anything stop her from getting everything she wanted, Sam broke up with Pete -- on the bench in the yard of the house Pete had just bought, no less. He took it relatively well, then walked away. (Threads)

Career:

Working with Thor, she helped figure out the cipher the Replicators were using to counteract the disruptor weapon that Jack had developed when he was functionally an Ancient. It only worked once because the Replicators adapted to it immediately -- but it did work. (Reckoning part 1)

With Jacob (and eventually with Baal's help as well), Sam figured out a way to make an Ancient weapon work as a modified disruptor beam, sent through every stargate in the galaxy at the same time to wipe out all the Replicators within reach of its wave. (Reckoning part 2)

Food preferences

Still eating blue Jell-O as of eighth season. (Threads)

Teal'c

Career:

  Jaffa rebellion

When the Replicators began taking over everything they could find and the Jaffa in turn began returning to their Goa'uld lords in droves, believing the Replicators to be punishment for their lack of faith, Teal'c saw it as the rebellion's opportunity to strike a final blow for freedom. He told Bra'tac they needed to capture the Temple of Dakara, the most sacred place in Jaffa religion -- the symbol of Goa'uld power. (Reckoning part 1)

When Baal's fleet approached, Teal'c split his forces, sending most into hiding around the system, then lied to Baal and told him he'd sent them all away, to surive to fight another day. He was less than thrilled when Sam contacted him to tell him that she and Jacob needed Baal's help, considering he was in the middle of fighting Baal's fleet, but accepted it and contacted Baal to explain the situation. (Reckoning part 2)

When the Replicators appeared and engaged Baal's fleet, Teal'c switched tactics, going after the Replicator ships to keep the weapon on Dakara out of their hands as long as possible (Baal wanted it kept away from both the Replicators and Anubis). (Reckoning part 2)

After the Replicators were destroyed by the modified energy beam, Teal'c demanded Baal's surrender, telling him he was surrounded -- just as Bra'tac and other rebel Jaffa burst onto Baal's peltac. Baal just laughed and beamed out. (Reckoning part 2)

After the Jaffa won their freedom, both Teal'c and Bra'tac were honored as the two driving forces that had brought them so far, with Tolok presiding over the ceremony: (Threads)

" Brothers Bra'tac of Chulak and Teal'c of the Tau'ri. For your enduring courage and vision, for the strength of will that has brought us to freedom from the Goa'uld -- a future we have yet to even comprehend, but one that will be determined by our own unfettered will  -- I hereby bestow upon you the highest honor any Jaffa can know. From this day forward, you shall both be known as blood-kin to all Jaffa." (Threads)

Teal'c didn't spend much time celebrating -- he knew that there was a lot left undone, and when Bra'tac pointed out that they hadn't planned properly for the aftermath of freedom, Teal'c began to see the magnitude of the problem: Jaffa had been fighting each other for generations, and didn't trust each other. Uniting them into a single people wouldn't be easy. (Threads)

When Bra'tac told him that both of them had been chosen to sit on the new council being formed to govern the free Jaffa, Teal'c was faced with a choice: take the position and focus on his people  (as  he'd  originally  planned  when  he  first  joined  the  Tau'ri), or stay with the Tau'ri. (Threads)

Tau'ri -- SGC

SGC

Timeline

2004:

Replicators invade the SGC in large numbers, resulting in a base lockdown and emergency evacuation procedures. The Replicators block access to the self-destruct before any soldiers can reach it. They make it into a hatch on the upper levels, leading Jack to believe that they're heading for the surface. He tells Hammond to detonate the bomb as soon as he safely can, despite the fact that Jack and seven others (including Reynolds and Siler) are still trapped on the base. They head for the gateroom in hopes of restoring power and control fast enough to gate out before the bomb goes off. Although that isn't going so well, they catch  a  break when Daniel manages to get control of the Replicators temporarily, freezing them all in their tracks. Shortly after they start up again, the stargate opens an incoming wormhole and the disruptor energy wave surges through, destroying all the Replicators where they stand. (Reckoning part 2)

ZPM

In late 2004, the SGC gained a fully charged ZPM, which had been buried in a tomb in Egypt. (Moebius part 2)

SGC personnel

Sgt Davis (Harriman)

He was on duty in the control room when the Replicators under Replicator-Sam's command invaded -- he received the initial radio transmission, but before he could figure out what it was, the Replicators had hacked into the system and locked him out. He made it out during the evacuation, and served as the liaison between Jack and Hammond, relaying requests and information. (Reckoning part 2)

Balinksy

At some point, he transferred from SG-13 to SG-22. (Moebius part 1)

He had to brief Jack about the properties of some minerals his team had found -- troilite (non-magnetic iron sulfide), and a mesostasis phase which contained micrometer crystals -- and he was being very careful about   making it sound exciting and interesting, obviously aware that Jack was bored to tears. Before he could complete his presentation/briefing, Daniel interrupted and Jack made his escape. (Moebius part 1)

Bosworth

Altered timeline: see Bosworth.

Hammond

When the Replicators under Replicator-Sam's command invaded the SGC, he got word to them that the president had given permission for the deployment of a 10-kiloton nuclear bomb on Jack's command, and that an emergency state of alert had been issued, with a 200-square-mile area around the mountain being evacuated. Reynolds

They were on Earth and on base at the SGC when the Replicators under Replicator-Sam's command invaded. Colonel Reynolds either found out himself or was given the information that he brought to Jack, that the Replicators had blocked access to the self-destruct mechanism before anyone could reach it. He stayed with Jack, pointing out that it was only a matter of time before the Replicators took over everything and overrode the security mechanisms. (Reckoning part 2)

personal speculation: To my eyes, this is more evidence that Reynolds is effectively (if not actually) the SGC's second-in-command these days, in Jack's old position. He seems to be the one who consistently makes sure Jack is aware of options and consequences, so Jack can make the most informed decisions.

He brought Jack word that Siler and five other people were trapped on level 8 during the evacuation, and went with Jack to rescue them. He set the charges to blow the blast door open (just one, at first, until Jack pointed out that it was a *blast* door, and they should have two). Jack, Reynolds, Siler, and the other five then stood down a wave of Replicators coming at them down a corridor until the Replicators found an open hatch and went into that instead. (Reckoning part 2)

He was still with Jack on the base when Jack sent word to Hammond to detonate the bomb as soon as possible, believing the Replicators to be heading for the surface. The eight of them headed for the gateroom, hoping to gate offworld before the bomb went off.

Siler

He was on duty when the Replicator under Replicator-Sam's command invaded. He and five other people were trapped on level 8 behind blast door R-4 -- the door wouldn't open with a cardkey after the power went. Jack and Reynolds got them out, blasting a hole in the door with two C-4 charges. Siler and the others then stood down a wave of oncoming Replicators in a corridor until the Replicators found an open hatch and went in there instead. (Reckoning part 2)

Siler apparently had Jack in his will -- when Jack joked that he expected to be put in Siler's will because of the rescue, Siler (apparently seriously) replied " Already in it, sir."   (Jack's  reply:  " Okay,  that's...  weird." ) (Reckoning part 2)

Variant timelines

Original timeline / original-timeline team

The team, including Jack, traveled back to 3,000 BC in the time-travel ship they found on Maybourne's world, in an attempt to find and take a ZPM from Ra before he could leave the planet with it. Once they landed, they cloaked the ship and Daniel made contact with two locals -- Katep and his brother Salatis -- who agreed to let them stay the night then go with them the next day to Ra's public audience. After the audience (where they had to watch Salatis be killed by Ra's Jaffa for presenting an unacceptable offering), the team slipped further into the temple. Jack stunned a Horus guard and Teal'c donned his full armor, then walked into the treasure room and took the ZPM, walking right back out with it. (Moebius part 1)

When the team returned to the ship, they discovered a problem: the cloaking device had worked perfectly, and now there was sand drifted up over what appeared to be thin air where they'd left it. It was surrounded by armed Jaffa. They didn't dare attack the Jaffa for fear of altering  the future. (Moebius part 1)

Daniel suggested leaving the ZPM in a First Dynasty tomb that he knew was going to be discovered a month before they left, so the ZPM would reach the future even if they didn't. In addition, he used his camcorder to record messages from all of them, explaining what had happened and what to do with the ZPM, just in case. The battery ran out before they could finish, though, and no information about the ZPM other than its name and the fact that it was very important made it on. (Moebius part 1)

Despite Sam's wish not to disturb the timeline, neither Jack nor Teal'c could take the thought of living out their lives under Ra's rule, and decided to kickstart the rebellion. They did too much too fast, though, and Jack, Sam, and Teal'c were all captured and executed. Daniel escaped and continued planning with Katep, taking it slower and more carefully this time. (Moebius part 2)

When the altered-timeline Jack, Sam, and Teal'c arrived, they added stealing the stargate to the plan, to keep Ra from taking it offworld when he left. The plan appears to have succeeded, but original-timeline Daniel and the others had to stay in the past to avoid muddying the timeline any further. (Moebius part 2)

Nick Ballard

He was at Daniel's parents' funeral, and afterwards brought Daniel to a restaurant where Daniel got waffles. (Threads)

outside-the-show-universe note: this was Der Waffle Haus, from Dead Like Me.

Sabrina Gosling

She was Catherine Langford's niece. (Moebius part 1)

As Catherine's funeral ended, she approached Daniel to thank him for coming and speaking, telling him that Catherine used to talk about him all the time (leading Sabrina to imagine an Indiana-Jones type, complete with whip and pistol, chasing bad guys through some ancient temple). Small talk over, she pulled out Catherine's Eye of Ra pendant, saying Catherine had wanted Daniel to have it. She added that there were " a few other odds and ends" that Catherine had left him, but she couldn't bring them to the funeral -- she asked if she could send them to him.  Daniel  agreed. (Moebius part 1)

Kerry Johnson

Works for the CIA. (Threads)

She was in charge of the investigation into Goa'uld still at large after the infested Trust's attempted takeover. (Threads)

She met Jack during the investigation and they became involved, both agreeing that the relationship wouldn't affect their jobs or their ability to work together, no matter what.

(Threads)

She made sure that Jack was okay with it all so they could keep working together -- she didn't want to have to ask for reassignment, because the job was very important to her. (Threads)

Catherine Langford X

She had a niece, Sabrina Gosling. (Moebius part 1)

According to Sabrina, she thought of Daniel as a son. (Moebius part 1)

She kept in touch with Daniel over the years, apparently talking with him regularly. She last spoke with him a week before she died in late 2004. (Moebius part 1)

Her funeral was small, but attended by people from several different arenas and cultures, including at least one military person, a woman in African garb, and a man in Japanese garb. Daniel gave the eulogy (to all appearances, at any rate). (Moebius part 1)

Daniel's eulogy:

" Catherine Langford was more than just kind and generous. She had a gift of an endless, open-minded, child-like curiousity. She saw the world not for what it was, but for what it could be. And she saw potential in people that others failed to recognize. Like her father before her, her contributions to science have changed the world more than most people know. I, for one, have no idea where I'd be today if I'd never met her. She changed my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined." (Moebius part 1)

She left Daniel her Eye of Ra pendant specifically (Sabrina handed it to him at the funeral), and then also basically her entire collection of artifacts, books, etc. (Moebius part 1)

nb: Her death occurred after the events at the end of Moebius part 2 since the timeline reset itself back a couple of weeks, but I have no reason to think it wouldn't still occur even in the new timeline -- it seemed to be natural causes (she would have been 80 years old at the time). My assumption is that after the team got back from fishing, Daniel was informed of her death in the new, existing timeline as well.

Pete Shanahan

He was very excited when Sam got him security clearance and an all-access pass to the SGC, and brought him down to level 25. He hoped he was going to be allowed through the startgate. He was stunned when she brought him into a VIP room and introduced him to Jacob -- she hadn't warned him at all, so he was totally unprepared. (Threads)

He started out stammery then " recovered" by asking if Jacob really had one of " those things" in his head, saying it was weird (apparently fully expecting both Jacob and Sam to be amused right along with him). Jacob was not amused. (Threads)

Later, despite knowing the nature of Sam's job and knowing there would be times she wouldn't be able to talk to him, he kept calling her at work, including using the base phone system to get through to her when she wouldn't answer her cell phone, telling Walter that it was urgent he speak to her.   (Threads)

While he and Sam were driving around later, discussing wedding plans, he sprang a surprise on her: a new house he'd just bought, apparently without discussing it with her first. (Threads)

Soon after, after Jacob had fallen ill and died (along with Selmak), Sam decided she really couldn't go through with it, and broke up with Pete -- on the bench in the front yard of the house he'd just bought for them. He took it relatively well, then walked away, peeling the " sold" sticker  off the real estate agent's " for sale" sign. (Threads)

Goa'uld

Goa'uld(s)

System Lords:

Amaterasu

She survived the " last stand" against Baal (assuming it happened), but wasn't present at the System Lord council where Baal's representative tried to convince them all to accept Baal's dominion before Replicator-Sam showed up. (Reckoning part 1)

Teal'c and Bra'tac (with Sam and Daniel along as observers) were set to attack one of Amaterasu's hataks as their part of the coordinated Jaffa surprise attacks against the System Lords. (Reckoning part 1)

Anubis

He survived his " exile" on the ice planet. At some point, Baal's forces brought him to Baal (whether knowingly or not), and he basically took over, with Baal as the figurehead so no one else would know Anubis was pulling the strings. (Reckoning part 1)

He was still in his energy form, and had to switch bodies regularly as they wore out. (Reckoning part 1)

He believed Baal was completely under his thumb, with no idea that by the end, Baal was going to the SGC for help against Anubis. (Reckoning part 1)

He was not pleased with Baal's betrayal of his plans, but kept him alive anyway -- so Baal could see exactly what Anubis did with the results of his betrayal: retake Dakara and use the weapon there to destroy all life in the galaxy. (Threads)

In human form, he was in the restaurant where Oma semi-ascended Daniel to (so he could choose whether to ascend or die). Anubis kept prodding at Daniel, playing him, making him doubt Oma in small ways while trying to play on Daniel's wish to protect humanity from the evil of Anubis. He even went so far as to dramatically demand that the Others in the restaurant (all totally ignoring Oma, Anubis, and Daniel alike) do something about Anubis, then seeming resigned/disappointed when they didn't react. He worked it around to suggesting that he knew why Daniel had chosen to take human form again, what had happened between him and Oma, then told Daniel to ask Oma about it. Later, he led Daniel along until Daniel figured out that Oma had ascended Anubis. (Threads)

While he was playing Daniel in Ascended Limbo, he was also playing the Jaffa on the corporeal plane. He fed them false information about his troops gathering on Tartarus, leading them to deplete their forces on and around Dakara in hopes of striking a preemptive blow against him. (Threads)

Anubis's forces defeated the Jaffa defending Dakara, giving him control of the Ancient weapon, and thus the ability to wipe out all life in the galaxy. (Threads)

Back in the restaurant, Anubis was very pleased with himself, and even more so after Daniel tried a last-ditch move to stop him, running at him physically -- and going straight through him, since Anubis was energy on that plane and Daniel wasn't. The move was enough to tip the balance for Oma, though. She stood up and told Anubis she had the power to stop him, by doing something she should have done a long time ago. She didn't care that she couldn't win -- she could fight him, and he wouldn't be able to do anything but fight back. He wasn't expecting that, at all, and was dismayed that she was actually going through with it. The two of them turned to an intertwined ball of energy and drifted away, still tangled. (Threads)

He's not dead, but he's out of the picture, at least for a while. (Threads)

Apophis

Altered timeline: see Apophis.

Baal

At an undetermined point, he picked up Anubis from the planet where he'd been stranded, and Anubis took command. (Reckoning part 1)

This is probably how Baal so quickly and easily gained control of Anbuis's kull warriors, tech, and territories.

Baal served Anubis with no outward show of disobedience, but clearly had his own agenda as well.

He appeared to be unaware that Sam was a lieutenant colonel, even months after the promotion -- not that he'd have any particular reason to care, but it's interesting that no word of her new title seemed to be making it back to Baal. (Reckoning part 1)

He sent an emissary to the (much reduced) Council of System Lords to demand their surrender, saying they could keep their armies and administrate their territories under his authority -- he demanded that they bow before him as supreme commander of the entire Goa'uld domain. If they refused, he would resume hostilities and eventually kill them. (Reckoning part 1)

When the Replicators invaded, Baal started losing fast -- within a single 24-hour period, he lost five regions. According to Jacob, he was making a typical Goa'uld mistake, defending territory at the expense of resources. (Reckoning part 1)

When he realized how badly the war with the Replicators was going, he sent a hologram of himself through the Tau'ri stargate and asked Jack for help, wanting to know what he'd used to defeat the Replicators before and suggesting they unite to fight their common enemy. Jack was amused: " I have a better idea. Why don't we sit back and watch you get your ass kicked. That way you'll be dead, and we'll be glad!" (Reckoning part 1)

He returned to the SGC again to request a different kind of help after Anubis explained that there was an Ancient weapon on Dakara that he could use to wipe out the Replicators, after Baal reclaimed Dakara for the Goa'uld and wiped out all the rebel Jaffa there. The weapon was capable of destroying all life in the galaxy, and Baal didn't trust Anubis not to use it. So he went to Jack, who was still reluctant to do anything to help him -- until he heard Anubis was back in the picture. (Reckoning part 1)

He stuck to his word, giving SG-1 as much time as he possibly could to find and destroy the weapon. He began by bringing in his fleet in to Dakara as slowly as he could, then, after Teal'c and Bra'tac began a slow, steady retreat after their ship's shields started to fail, Baal turned his entire fleet to follow, ignoring Dakara in favor of wiping out all the rebels before retaking the planet. The reasoning satisfied his Jaffa, and bought Sam and Jacob more time. (Reckoning part 2)

When Sam and Jacob requested his help with the weapon, he was surprised and amused, but agreed to figure out a way to dial all the stargates in the galaxy simultaneously so that the Ancient weapon could be used against every Replicator around. (Reckoning part 2)

He also " helped" with configuring the weapon's control panel output to match the signature from the Replicator-killing disruptor that Jack had built -- he stood there as a hologram and pointed to sections Jacob and Sam should push, smug any time it worked. He had to leave them to it when his ship started losing life support, but sincerely wished them luck before he left (creeping Jacob out in the process). (Reckoning part 2)

After the Replicators were successfully destroyed, Baal ordered his fleet to capture the rebels, and was highly amused when Teal'c contacted him and demanded his surrender instead. He was surprised when Bra'tac and other rebel Jaffa appeared in his " throne" (control) room and captured it, but no less amused -- he was laughing as he hit a transporter beam signal on his wrist, and beamed out. (Reckoning part 2)

He made it back to Anubis's home base and went before Anubis, who accused him not only of failure, but betrayal -- he'd discovered at least some of what Baal had done against Anubis's orders regarding Dakara, and knew that Baal had been the one to modify the stargate system to allow for simultaneous dialing of all gates in the galaxy. Anubis let him live, though, so he could see what Anubis was going to do with Baal's results: retake Dakara and use the weapon there to destroy all life in the galaxy. (Threads)

Ra

In 3,000 BC, Ra was still on Earth, near  the end of his reign here. He possessed a ZPM among his treasures, without knowing what it was. (Moebius part 1)

His attendants were adults, both male and female, rather than the children and teenagers he later surrounded himself with. (Moebius part 1)

Altered timeline: see Ra.

Yu

He survived the " last stand" against Baal (assuming it happened), and remained in a position of power on the (much diminished) High Council. (Reckoning part 1)

When Baal's emissary came before the small Council to demand their surrender, Yu spoke through Oshu, saying her master had no honor and that the System Lords were still determined to fight Baal. Yu himself added that if Baal had come in person, Yu would have killed him with his bare hands. (Reckoning part 1)

Almost immediately afterward, two of the emissary's kull warriors escorted " Samantha Carter" in, after capturing her ship near the station. Yu approached to ask what she was doing there, and Replicator-Sam extruded a long blade from one arm and ran him through the torso. Yu collapsed. (Reckoning part 1)

Yu may be dead -- after she ran him through, a Replicator ship approached the station where the council was being held, and it's unlikely that they left anyone alive. But he's survived a lot in the past, so he isn't being listed as definitely dead until canon specifically confirms it. (Reckoning part 1)

Goa'uld language

Kree. Ria-nok.

No direct translation.

Probably means something like " get out" -- one of Ra's Jaffa said it to Ra's worshipers after Ra left the temple, and everyone started to leave. (Moebius part 1)

shal-tar

No direct translation.

The context was a Jaffa guard, shouting for worshipers to present their offering (they opened the box containing the offerings), so probably something like " open it!" . (Moebius part 1)

Tana-akal mal tar. Jaya-nok-shol.

Ra said this before having his Jaffa shoot a worshiper whose offering didn't please him. According to Daniel, he said he " will not tolerate such disrespect from his followers." (Moebius part 1)

Vash-mal -- vash-mal jel-na?

No direct translation.

Ra said this when presented with a box of offerings (jewelry and the like) -- the gist seems to be " what is this?" or " is that all?" . (Moebius part 1)

High Council

War with Baal

Baal steadily reduced the ranks of the System Lords, including Council members, either killing them, bringing them to his side, or driving them to seek refuge. (It's Good to Be King)

After some of the System Lords, including Yu and Amaterasu, gathered their forces for what they believed might be their last stand against Baal (It's Good to Be King), the Council appeared to he reduced to just three System Lords -- Yu and two others (names unknown). (Reckoning part 1)

Dakara

Original Ancient name unknown.

It was the site of an Ancient structure that the Goa'uld and Jaffa eventually turned into a temple, where the first prim'ta ceremony was held. (Reckoning part 1)

When Jacob/Selmak translated the writings on the temple walls, the translations were bizarre, to say the least, including:

" At midday the darkness is high in the sky." (Reckoning part 2)

In reality, this was code -- part of the wall needed to be moved so that this would read " At midday the sun is high in the sky." (Reckoning part 2)

" The wind blows on the pillow." (Reckoning part 2)

" Three days to the chicken." (Reckoning part 2)

When the appropriate bits of wall had been moved/turned to reveal phrases that made sense, the wall opened up, revealing an innner chamber that housed a control panel much like the one on P4X-639  that Malikai used to activate the Ancient time-looping device. (Reckoning part 2)

The chamber was well enough shielded that Baal's ship's sensors couldn't detect it. (Reckoning part 2)

nb: It's not clear whether those were standard Goa'uld sensors, or if they'd been modified using Anubis's technology.

The panel controlled a device that emitted an  energy  wave capable of destroying all life in the galaxy -- there's no indication of why the Ancients would have built such a device in the first place, never mind left it behind to be discovered by younger, more primitive races after the Ancients all died or ascended. (Reckoning parts 1 & 2)

Specifically, according to Jacob (who was reading a screen left by the Ancients), " The weapon uses an energy wave to reduce all matter to its basic molecular elements. It's not strong enough to disintegrate an entire planet, but it will wash away everything on a planet's surface, and  anything in the surrounding space." -- clearly related to the way the disruptor worked. (Reckoning part 2)

Technology

Weapon of Destruction

nb: That's the name given in the newspaper article Daniel was reading in Ascended Limbo (Threads). It's no worse than the ones I was coming up with, so that's what I'm going with for now.

A beam-weapon located in the midst of an almost Sphinx-like structure on a world that eventually became known as Dakara. (Reckoning part 1)

It was capable of destroying all life in the galaxy. There's no indication of why the Ancients would build such a weapon, much less leave it behind when they ascended en masse. (Reckoning part 1)

According to Anubis (who may well have been lying), it was originally designed to create life, and in fact did create, or recreate, life in the Milky Way a million years or so ago, after the plague. (see the nitpick on that timing.) (Threads)

Ascendants

Culture:

Anubis -- who is not necessarily a reliable source -- confirmed the non-interference rule, saying that the number-one rule for Ascendants is that " No lone ascended being shall help a lower ascend" -- lower meaning unascended beings, like humans -- and that " If you deserve to be here, you should be able to get here on your own. If there's an exception, for whatever reason, a majority vote by the collective can get you in." (Threads)

Known Ascendants:

Oma

She pulled Daniel out of his dying body on the path to ascension after Replicator-Sam ran Daniel through, but Oma didn't ascend him all the way -- she brought him to what she called a " stopping point along the way" so that he could make the decision for himself. She appeared to him as a waittress in a waffle-house, ready to take his order. (Threads)

outside-the-show-universe note: this was Der Waffle Haus, from Dead Like Me.

When Daniel learned that Anubis was planning to destroy all life in the galaxy, he asked if she was going to do anything to stop it. (Threads)

She told Daniel that it had been his choice to descend back to human form after the events of Full Circle, but that she hadn't erased his memories completely, even though she was supposed to. (Threads)

When Daniel asked her why it was okay to break some rules and not others, and why she'd given him a second chance when she already knew that he wasn't very good at following the rules, she told him that she walked the line -- and that she'd crossed it a few times, and paid dearly for it. But she couldn't let him just die without at least offering him a second chance, if he were willing to put his past human existence  " into the proper context" . (Threads)

With " Jim" (human-form Anubis) prodding at Daniel and feeding him bits of information until Daniel realized that Oma was the one who ascended Anubis, she had no choice but to admit it to him. (Threads)

She said that Anubis must have gotten hold of some Ancient research on ascension, because when he went to Kheb, he knew exactly what he was doing, and fooled her completely. When she realized what a horrible mistake she'd made she tried to undo it, but couldn't. The Others stepped in, sending him partway back, and gave him a warning: he wasn't allowed to use any powers or knowledge that he couldn't/wouldn't have gained as a normal Goa'uld. (Threads)

Her punishment was to stand by and watch as Anubis did whatever he wanted, powerless to interfere. (Threads)

Daniel was horrified when he realized that the Others let Anubis run basically free just to punish Oma -- she had to stand by and watch as he wreaked havoc, unable to interfere. (Threads)

When Anubis came back to the restaurant, very pleased with himself about the fact that his forces had taken Dakara, and even more so after Daniel tried a last-ditch move to stop him, running at him physically -- and going straight through him, since Anubis was energy on that plane and Daniel wasn't -- Oma had had enough. (Threads)

" Adopted" Ascendants:

Daniel

After being run through by Replicator-Sam, Daniel ascended again -- at least partly. (Reckoning part 2)

After being held in Ascended Limbo for a while so he could make his own decision -- and finding out that Oma had been the one to originally ascend Anubis, much to Daniel's shock -- Daniel ascended completely for a second time, at least long enough to properly descend again -- landing naked in Jack's office this time, apparently with his memories intact, including at least some from his time with Oma and Anubis, enough to know that he hadn't been the one to interfere with things at the SGC while he was gone. (Threads)

Asgard

Known Asgard:

Thor

When asked by the SGC, he went to the Milky Way to help with the problem of the Replicator invasion, beaming Sam and her research aboard his ship to work with her on a solution. (Reckoning part 1)

He and Sam agreed that the only way to get the information they needed was to reactivate the cells left behind by Replicator-Sam and use them to contact -- for micro-seconds at at time -- the Replicator network. It worked, and Thor managed to discover the cipher that the Replicators were using to counteract the disruptor weapon. He modified the weapon and he and Sam tested it on one Replicator ship, successfully. The other Replicators adapted immediately, though, and began going after Thor's ship. He and Sam fled. (Reckoning part 1)

The ship was boarded anyway, either before or after it went into hyperspace, and Replicators began compromising its systems. Thor beamed Sam back down into the SGC while his transporters were still working, then took the ship as far away as possible so the Replicators wouldn't be near Earth when they took over the ship completely. (Reckoning part 1)

Thor's body died somehow, and his consciousness was transferred to the ship's computer, ready to be downloaded into a new body. He planned to visit Earth again after that. (Reckoning part 2)

Legend claimed that it was the place where the first prim'ta ritual was performed -- where the Goa'uld first gave the Jaffa their strength and longevity. As a result, for thousands of years, the Jaffa viewed Dakara as the holiest of sites, " the very cradle of our existence" according to Bra'tac. (Reckoning part 1)

Rumor also had it that it was where Anubis returned from the dead. (Reckoning part 1)

During the war with the Replicators, while Baal's forces were busy elsewhere, the rebel Jaffa led by Teal'c and Bra'tac launched a plan to capture Dakara. When they arrived, only one ha'tak was patrolling the system, giving them easy access. (Reckoning part 1)

Rebellion:

With the rebellion finally getting big enough to take some real action, they coordinated many simultaneous surprise attacks across the galaxy, each designed to create a strategic weakeness in the forces of the System Lords. (Reckoning part 1)

After the Replicators arrived and started destroying everything in their path, rebel Jaffa began re-pledging their loyalty to the Goa'uld by the thousands, believing the Replicators to be a plague sent in punishment for straying from their gods. (Reckoning part 1)

Teal'c and Bra'tac hatched a plan to regain the Jaffa and overthrow the Goa'uld for good: capture the Temple of Dakara while Baal's forces (which should have been protecting it) were scattered and distracted by the fight with the Replicators. Bra'tac's notion was for the SGC to continue fighting the Replicators (with Thor's help), while the rebellion focused on gaining Dakara and continuing the uprising, so that everyone was fighting the enemy they knew best. (Reckoning part 1)

The rebels had managed to bring five ha'taks, eight al-kesh, and ten squadrons of gliders to the battle for Dakara. When Baal's forces headed back to retake the planet, Teal'c split the rebel forces, sending all of the gliders to the other side of the planet, and sending all the al-kesh and two of the ha'tak on the far side of the moon. (Reckoning part 2)

When the Replicators appeared in commandeered ha'taks to engage Baal's fleet over Dakara, Teal'c switched tactics and joined the fight against them, knowing that the most important objective was to keep the Replicators away from the weapon on the planet. (Reckoning part 2)

After the Replicators were successfully wiped out thanks to the energy wave sent forth by the modified Ancient weapon, rebel Jaffa led by Bra'tac took Baal's ship, storming the peltak and capturing Baal himself. Baal, amused, escaped a moment later by beaming out using a wrist-activator for the transporter, but they still had the ship. (Reckoning part 2)

Despite Baal's escape, the fact that he basically turned tail and ran sufficed to prove to the Jaffa that he wasn't a god, and they began turning to the rebellion from all over the galaxy. Between their growing numbers and the weaponry provided by the SGC, it was possible that they'd be able to turn the tide against the supersoldiers, and even finally win their freedom as a race. (Reckoning part 2)

Free Jaffa nation

Free Jaffa nation

Council

The Jaffa set up a governing council, including Teal'c and Bra'tac, once they won their freedom. (Threads)

The council sent word back to the SGC with Teal'c and Bra'tac that they wouldn't countenance the destruction of the weapon on Dakara, fearing that it would weaken the resolve and unity of the free Jaffa who still had to face Goa'uld. They were aware of the danger posed by the weapon, though, and declared that the Jaffa would pour their energies into finding and killing  Anubis. Once that threat was gone, they'd reassess the decision to destroy the device. (Threads)

Bra'tac believed that the quest to defeat Anubis would unite the still-warring Jaffa factions, giving them a common goal to work toward. (Threads)

The fleet headed for Tartarus, where the Jaffa had word that Anubis was gathering his kull warriors. (Threads)

The information about Anubis's forces turned out to be a ruse, and many of the Jaffa left to guard Dakara were killed when Anubis attacked there. He defeated them and gained control of the weapon, losing it again not because of anything that happened on this plane, but because Oma decided that fighting him more or less eternally was better than letting him destroy everything. As a result of this close call, the council agreed that the weapon was too dangerous and should be destroyed. They planned to erect a monument in its place, so future generations of Jaffa woulnd't forget. (Threads)

Known Jaffa:

Aron

He was part of the group that met with Teal'c and Bra'tac to discuss capturing the Temple of Dakara. Aron was doubtful, and believed that they should focus their energies on fighting the Replicators. When Teal'c and Bra'tac stood firm about Dakara, and Tolok eventually agreed, Aron assented to the plan. (Reckoning part 1)

During the fight over Dakara, he was aboard the same ha'tak as Teal'c and Bra'tac, at one set of controls on the peltak. (Reckoning part 2)

Bra'tac

He was disheartened by the rebel Jaffa army's reaction to the Replicator invasion -- they returned to their Goa'uld masters by the thousands, convinced that the Replicators were a punishment sent for their lack of faith. Teal'c talked him into a daring plan to regain all those Jaffa and more, which perked him up quite a bit: capture the sacred Temple of Dakara, proving once and for all that the Goa'uld did not have the power of gods. Bra'tac helped Teal'c talk Jack into it, going a step further and saying that the Jaffa would focus on the Goa'uld while the SGC and Thor focused on the Replicator threat -- each playing to their  strength, fighting the enemy they knew best. (Reckoning part 1)

He went with Teal'c to help convince other rebel Jaffa leaders about the plan. (Reckoning part 1)

Age and aging

He was starting to feel his age again  after  the  Jaffa  won  their  freedom,  and  he'd  fulfilled  his  life's  dream -- he told Teal'c that he thought the great preemptive battle against Anubis and his kull warriors would be his last. Teal'c wouldn't hear of it. (Threads)

Bra'tac, free Jaffa

Bra'tac realized that he and Teal'c had been remiss: they'd focused so much on winning freedom for all Jaffa that they hadn't planned enough for what came next. They were ill-prepared to unite Jaffa who'd fought each other for generations, and still distrusted each other. (Threads)

He broke the news to Teal'c that the high priests wanted them both to sit on the new council being formed to govern the Jaffa, pointing out that that would take Teal'c from the Tau'ri, but also that it had been Teal'c's goal from the beginning to eventually leave the Tau'ri after freeing his people. (Threads)

In a meeting with Teal'c, Jack, Sam, and Jacob about the new weapon on Dakara, he agreed with the others that the weapon was too dangerous to leave active, but pointed out that its destruction without the agreement of the new Jaffa council would anger the entire free Jaffa nation, and sour the already tentative relations with the Tau'ri. (Threads)

Teal'c and Bra'tac had called another meeting of the Jaffa council, hoping to strengthen the bonds between previously warring Jaffa by focusing on uniting against their common enemy -- the Goa'uld who still remained. During the same meeting, they brought up the weapon on Dakara. The council refused to countenance its destruction, believing that it was too powerful a symbol and that its destruction would weaken the resolve of the free Jaffa still facing Goa'uld, especially Anubis. Instead, they decided to throw all the Jaffa energies into finding and killing Anubis. Once that was accomplished, they'd reconsider the decision to destroy the weapon. (Threads)

He was starting to feel his age again -- he told Teal'c that he thought the great preemptive battle against Anubis and his kull warriors would be his last. Teal'c wouldn't hear of it. (Threads)

Oshu

He attended Yu at a meeting of the much-reduced Council of System Lords, and was present when Baal's emissary demanded their surrender, right before Replicator-Sam arrived and ran Yu through, to Oshu's shock. (Reckoning part 1)

Oshu may be dead -- after Replicator-Sam ran Yu through, a Replicator ship approached the station where the council was being held, and it's unlikely that they left anyone alive. (Reckoning part 1)

Rak'nor

He was the contact person for SG-1 and Bra'tac when they were coordinating surprise attacks against the System Lords. (Reckoning part 1)

Tolok

Originally one of Heru'ur's Jaffa, according to his forehead tattoo. (Reckoning part 1)

Clearly held a position of respect among the rebel Jaffa, with even Bra'tac singling him out to ask for support, despite the fact that Tolok had only a black tattoo. (Reckoning part 1)

It's possible that he was part of the priest-caste -- he wore (fairly simple) robes, not armor, and someone referred to him praying. (Reckoning parts 1 & 2)

Replicators

General info:

A vast and ever-growing army of Replicators invaded the Milky Way under Replicator-Sam's leadership, focusing on the Goa'uld first. They went after the System Lord Council first, then spread out to attack various fleets throughout the galaxy, sweeping through the System Lords. When they boarded the ship that Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, and Bra'tac were on, one of them focused in on Daniel and apparently sent word back to Replicator-Sam, since Daniel was immediately beamed away. (Reckoning part 1)

Eventually the Replicators turned their attention to at least Earth as well, physically invading it by dialing in and hacking into the computer network to shut down the SGC's defenses (like the iris) -- it's not clear how many other non-Goa'uld worlds they went after, if any. After Replicator-Sam learned from Daniel's mind that there was a weapon on Dakara that could threaten the Replicators, Replicator-controlled ha'taks arrived in Dakara space and engaged both Baal's and the rebel Jaffa fleets. Eventually, with most of the opposing ships being routed, they landed on the planet itself and began moving in on the temple where the weapon was housed. (Reckoning part 2)

Before they could reach the weapon, Daniel took mental control of them, stopping them all in their tracks. By the time Replicator-Sam ran Daniel through and freed them all, it was too late -- Jacob had successfully modified the Ancient weapon to emit an energy wave that destroyed every Replicator it came in contact with, both on Dakara and throughout the stargate network, as (thanks to Baal) Jacob dialed out to every stargate simultaneously to disseminate the wave as widely as possible. (Reckoning part 2)

Known Replicators:

Replicator-Sam

Leader of Replicators

She deliberately approached a space station where the Goa'uld System Lord Council was meeting, letting herself be captured and briefly allowing the System Lords to think she was the real Samantha Carter. When Yu approached and demanded to know what she was doing there, she formed one of her hands into a long blade and ran him through. She turned to deal with the others, but it's not clear exactly what she did -- killed them outright, interrogated them, something else. At the same time, a Replicator ship approached the station. (Reckoning part 1)

My guess is that everyone aboard the station, including Yu and Oshu, is dead, but I have no concrete proof of that. (Reckoning part 1)

When her Replicators took the ship that Teal'c, Bra'tac, Sam, and Daniel were on, she spotted Daniel through their eyes and had him beamed out to her ship (either directly or relayed there, it's not clear). She wanted the knowledge of the Ancients from his brain, in hopes of gaining access to technology like the disruptor Jack had built. (Reckoning part 1)

She set up a fake reality inside his mind, pretending to be Oma Desala visiting him in a representation of the tent he'd lived in as Arrom, among the nomads. She couldn't maintain the illusion, though, because she didn't understand the zen koans Oma spoke in -- when Daniel quoted one to her, she was confused. (Reckoning part 1)

Having Daniel figure out who she really was didn't matter -- she'd already gotten the information she wanted, that there was a weapon on the planet Dakara that was capable of destroying the Replicators. (Reckoning part 1)

After discovering the information she needed, she realized that Daniel's subconscious was a veritable goldmine of information, and offered to join forces with him to unlock it. Daniel declined the offer. She drew information from his brain in a stream (which seemed to be merging with Replicator info in some fashion, presumably as she spread it out among all the Replicators to have enough storage space). She seemed genuinely surprised that he didn't want to join with her in learning everything there was to know in his subconscious. (Reckoning part 2)

She was really pissed off when Daniel called her on lying about the Replicators leaving Earth alone -- when he said " they're invading Earth right now" she realized that while she was rooting around in his mind, he was in her mind at the same time. She went so far as to accuse him of tricking her (his response: " You tricked me first." ). She tried to leave his mind and was very surprised when he caught and held her, refusing to let her go. She told him he couldn't stop or control her brethren -- he replied, " Not yet -- but I'm learning." (Reckoning part 2)

Eventually he learned enough to control the Replicators, but that released Replicator-Sam, who escaped his mind and returned them both to consciousness aboard her ship. She formed one of her arms into a sword and ran him through the chest, fatally. As he died (and began his ascension), though, the energy beam from the modified Ancient weapon swept through space where her ship was, disintegrating it. (Reckoning part 2)

She may or may not have survived the destruction of her ship -- she was engulfed in a white light that was probably just Daniel ascending and leaving his body behind, but could also have been a transporter beam. (Reckoning part 2)

Tok'ra

Culture:

General info

The Tok'ra tagged as many Goa'uld ships as possible over recent years, to be able to track them. As of late 2004, there were beacons on more than a hundred motherships, transmitting their locations via subspace to an encoded Tok'ra network. (Reckoning part 1)

With a receiver, they could pull up a screen showing where the ships were and how they were moving, as well as tap into the Tok'ra network, with current updates from Tok'ra agents in the field. They'd never shared this technology with the Tau'ri because the High Council never thought it could trust them with it. (Reckoning part 1)

The frequency of the beacons,  at  least  those  within  one  quadrant, was identical: 162.145. (Reckoning part 1)

Clearly, they weren't necessarily being tagged as specific ships, although it's possible that each System Lord's ships as a whole were given a different frequency, to track the movements of specific armies. That's speculation, though. (Reckoning part 1)

There were Tok'ra operatives in Baal's inner circle, including a high-ranking lieutenant. (Reckoning part 1)

High council

Despite the Tok'ra council's growing distrust of Jacob, when the SGC sent word about his and Selmak's imminent death, several Tok'ra responded, asking to be able to pay their respects. Jacob said they could come. (Threads)

Known Tok'ra:

Jacob

When the Replicators invaded the galaxy and started taking on the Goa'uld, Jacob went to Earth to tell Jack. While he was at it, he stole a Tok'ra receiver that could tap into the encoded Tok'ra subspace network, both to spy on the movements of " tagged" Goa'uld ships and to hear current reports from Tok'ra agents in the field. (Reckoning part 1)

When Baal started losing faster and faster, he suggested to Jack that they get him a message advising him to change his tactics: pull back and stop fighting the Replicators so aggressively, so they'd back off as well. Jack balked, pointing out that Teal'c and the rebel Jaffa were counting on Baal's armies being too busy with the Replicators to pay attention to Dakara and the temple there, so they could make their strike against it. Jacob believed that the Jaffa effort was doomed from the start, and that they couldn't risk the galaxy on such a long shot. (Reckoning part 1)

Despite strong reservations, he managed to keep working on the Ancient device that he and Sam found even with Baal giving unwanted (but often useful) advice. When Baal had to leave because his ship was losing lifesupport and other functions during the battle with the Replicators over Dakara, Jacob was thoroughly creeped out by Sam's sincere thanks and Baal's sincere " good luck" in return. (Reckoning part 2)

Jacob managed to finish the adjustments to the weapon's control panel just in time, and activated it moments before the Replicators would have overrun their position. Afterward, he collapsed a bit against the console, but told Sam nothing was wrong. (Reckoning part 2)

Jacob had known for weeks that Selmak was dying, but refused to let him go, believing he needed Selmak's help to figure out the Ancient weapon on Dakara. Selmak slipped into a coma after the Replicators were destroyed, leaving no chance that he'd be able to exit Jacob without killing him. (Threads)

He travelled to the SGC and finally met Pete. (Threads)

He let Pete stammer and stumble his way through the meeting, not giving him much in the way of help to make things easier. It didn't get any better when Pete started asking if Jacob had one of " those things" in his head, saying it must be weird. (Threads)

When Sam pushed him for his reaction, he said " He seems nice" -- not exactly the enthused approval Sam was hoping for. He claimed that Selmak really liked Pete, though. (Threads)

Later, when Pete interrupted a meeting by calling Sam, including on a base phone (telling Walter it was " urgent" that he speak to her), Jacob was even less impressed. He took the opportunity to tweak Sam a bit, though, saying (in front of everyone) " Weren't you supposed to meet Pete at the florist this morning?" and pushing it a bit when she tried to deny it. -- through gritted teeth. Jacob was very pleased with himself when Jack chimed in to tell Sam to " go pick flowers" , since it was her day off anyway. Sam was not amused. (Threads)

In a meeting with Jack, Sam, Teal'c, and Bra'tac about the Ancient weapon on Dakara, where they all agreed that the weapon was too dangerous and had to go, Jack suggested to Jacob that the Tok'ra do it (since the Jaffa already hate them, and they might not be happy about the destruction of the weapon on their new world without their agreement). Jacob admitted that there might already be a plan in place to do just that, but that he and Selmak were too out of the loop to be sure. (Threads)

Jacob was put in the infirmary when his body began failing -- Selmak was dying, and too weak to save Jacob from his death. Selmak should have died weeks earlier, but Jacob hadn't let him go, believing that he needed Selmak's help to stop the Replicators. He'd hung on too long so he could help with the Ancient weapon on Dakara. (Threads)

When the SGC sent word to the Tok'ra and word came back that several Tok'ra would like to visit and pay their respects, Jacob agreed to let them come. (Threads)

His dying words were to Sam: " Love you." (late 2004) (Threads)

Technology:

Symbiote removal:

This was presumably used on Klorel, to remove him from Skaara, who'd won control of his body during the Tollan triad. (see nitpick) (Pretense)

Over the years, the Tok'ra have nearly perfected the process. It involves killing the symbiote before it can release its toxins, then removing it. (Threads)

Nitpicks

Individual episodes:

Reckoning part 1

This isn't going to bother anyone but me, but way back in first season, during Bloodlines, they introduced a priesthood with different tattoo markings, which dealt with infant symbiotes and the prim'ta ceremony. I had a whole theory about how this was the over-arching religion, the one every Jaffa took part in along with the more individual matter of their System Lords being their individual gods. It would help cement a wider Jaffa culture, etc. And it made sense -- the priest had his own symbol, and that symbol was on the table-drape and hangings around Rya'c's prim'ta ceremony along with Apophis's serpent symbol. So I was really hoping that at Dakara, the symbol would be that one, rather than just whatever Goa'uld happened to hold the terriroty at the moment (in this case, Baal). They lost a chance to do a fantastic, subtle bit of continuity here.

Reckoning, part 2

Continuity glitch? When Jacob says, " C'mon, it can't be any harder than blowing up a sun" , Sam's reaction is " You know, you blow up one sun, and suddenly people expect you to walk on water" -- but in Exodus, Sam and Jacob working together figured out the idea to blow up the sun. She didn't do it alone.

The idea of sending the blast through every open stargate is nifty, but doesn't account for Replicators too far away from a stargate to be affected, or stargates that were in use when the mass-dialing occurred.

Threads

Why would Pete ever think it was appropriate to keep calling Sam at work when she was clearly too busy to take his calls? He's a cop, he should know that there are times you just can't pick up the phone -- and yes, saving the world actually is more important than picking out flowers for a wedding. And Pete should know that, because a lot of what his job is about is more important than flowers, too.

Okay, she pretty much had to say it given the circumstances, but Sam's " generally speaking, that's my type" (meaning humans) -- not exactly correct. Of her known romantic interests (or potential interests) prior to Pete, a good half were aliens (Martouf, Narim, Orlin).

Science/continuity glitch: Have the writers of this show never cracked a single book about evolution or paleontology, or done a simple Google search? The Ancients can't have " recreated" life in this galaxy " a million-odd years ago" -- humanity alone has been evolving for a good four million years, and there was plenty of life on Earth before then. Even assuming Anubis  was right about that, the timing still doesn't work -- the Ancients left our galaxy 3-5 million years ago, far too early for Anubis's timeline to hold.

Continuity glitch: When " Jim" (human-form Anubis) is talking to Daniel about how Anubis ascended, he says that rule number one for ascendants is that " No lone ascended being can help a lower ascend" -- lower meaning unascended beings, like humans -- then goes on to say " If you're supposed to be here, you should be able to get here on your own." This supports the general gist of what Oma's been saying, but directly contradicts Orlin in Ascension, when he said that after taking human form to be with Sam, he couldn't ascend again without the Others's help.

Continuity glitch: In Pretense, Klorel was supposed to have been safely removed from Skaara and returned to the Goa'uld -- the point of the triad's  decision was not to kill him, but to allow each entity to live his own life. If the Tok'ra process actually kills the symbiote before removal, then the triad sentenced Klorel to death with no option of survival -- and Tollan law provides for no death penalty. Instead, from the way people were talking at the end of that ep, Klorel was clearly alive. (There would be no need to carry him in a container full of liquid if he were dead, or to carry him at all, and Lya wouldn't be asking " What will become of Klorel?" -- and the Tollan would have no particular reason to send a carefully-stored-in-liquid dead symbiote back to a Goa'uld world, unless they wanted to massively piss off the Goa'uld and possibly trigger an attack against themselves.)

Continuity glitch: Jacob says " I should have been dead four years ago" ,  and  Sam  says  " I  thought  I  lost  him  four  years  ago" -- it was six years ago that he was dying and became a Tok'ra to save his life (in Tok'ra, part 2).

Continuity glitch: Bra'tac tells Teal'c " Talk to me in 50 years" when Teal'c tries to tell him " You are only as old as you believe yourself to be." Teal'c is only 35 years younger than Bra'tac.

Moebius part 1

Why was Daniel the only member of SG-1 at Catherine's funeral? Even if they hadn't been close with her recently, I can't believe that neither Jack nor Sam would go to the funeral -- both of them were on hugging terms with Catherine the last time we saw them together.

Thanks!

Added note to the timing section on the front page

nb: In late eighth season, prop canon (a calendar) appeared in Citizen Joe suggesting that the end of first season happened in August 1997. I believe that that compresses the season's timeline too much, and screws up too much of the future timeline -- if that date is correct, there's absolutely no way to know when anything else happened. So for simplicity's sake, I'm sticking to one season per calendar year.

Immediately thereafter, he was back in command. He took the Prometheus out into local space to look for the cloaked al-kesh being used by the Trust, who turned out to have been infested by Goa'uld. (Full Alert)

When Daniel beamed aboard with the Goa'ulded Kinsey and Kinsey replied to their questions with " you have to send me back, idiots, you just made yourselves look worse" (paraphrased, but the gist is there), Pendergast realized that the only reason the Goa'uld would want to return to a primary target in a nuclear war he was engineering was if he had his own way out -- an inside contact.

Pendergast sent him to the brig, but Kinsey escaped in the confusion of an al-kesh attack, transporting off the ship. (Full Alert)

When the al-kesh carrying the Goa'ulded Trust agents decloaked and started firing, Pendergast started returning fire as soon as he realized what was happening. The Prometheus destroyed the al-kesh, probably with Kinsey still aboard. (Full Alert)

Politics

Kinsey

After being forced to resign in disgrace, he was also kicked out of the Trust since he was no longer useful to them. (Full Alert)

The Trust approached him some time later and made him an interesting offer: in exchange for a large payment, they wanted him to arrange a meeting with General Miroslav Kiselev, the Russian defense minister. He'd heard (through the grapevine, apparently) that the Trust had changed its attitude after being thwarted by the SGC in its plan to use symbiote poison agains the Goa'uld, and had begun planning a more direct bid for power. When he realized that that meant they were trying to ally with the Russians against the United States, he balked, and went directly to Jack for help. (Full Alert)

Despite everything he'd done over the years, he was still adamant about having done it for God and country (in that order). (Full Alert)

He was appalled when Jack told him he had to wear a wire to the meeting with the Trust, saying that he wasn't a spy. Jack told him that if he didn't do what the Trust wanted, they'd kill him, and if he didn't do what the SGC wanted, " We'll let 'em." Kinsey hadn't counted on the SGC being " under new management" , as Jack put it. With no real option, he did as he was told. (Full Alert)

His notion of a good code  word to bring in the SGC troops who  would be lurking at a distance was " help" . (Full Alert)

He snarked his way through the beginnings of the meeting, sure that they needed him too badly to kill him, but was shocked to find out that what they really wanted him for was to stick a Goa'uld symbiote in him. They all transported away before the SGC backup team could get there. (Full Alert)

He went to Moscow to stage a fake assassination attempt on another Goa'ulded host -- Kiselev -- in order to make it appear that the US administration had been compromised with Goa'uld, in hopes of sparking a war that would wipe out most of the planet. He expected to be caught, planning to convince the Russians that the US administration was compromised and couldn't be trusted. It worked, since the person in charge was Kiselev, who started playing his part of escalating Russia's military preparedness level. (Full Alert)

When Daniel showed up and started questioning him, Kinsey inadvertantly let slip that there was a different agenda underlying his apparent assassination attempt. With Kiselev's men about to start shooting, Daniel grabbed Kinsey and triggered a locator signal, getting them both beamed aboard the Prometheus. Kinsey refused to give up any information and was led off to the brig, but an attacky by his Trust cohorts in an al-kesh caused enough confusion to allow him to break free of his captors and escape via rings to the al-kesh. (Full Alert)

He clearly didn't trust the others there as far as he could throw them -- despite their protestations, he believed (correctly) they'd attacked the Prometheus specifically to kill him, since he was a liability after being captured. He killed the one at the controls, then ripped the hand device off the dead body's arm as the al-kesh was rocked by blows from the Prometheus. (Full Alert)

He was gone from the control room when the other Trust agents came at the run, wondering why they were no longer returning fire or trying to evade the Prometheus.

He may or may not be dead. There was no evidence that he'd escaped other than the fact that he wasn't in the control room any longer, and no one aboard the Prometheus reported spotting a ship or lifepod, or a transporter-ring stream, and the Prometheus destroyed the al-kesh very shortly after he grabbed the hand device. Nevertheless  he may well have been able to escape somehow.  (Full Alert)

Whether he's dead or not, the SGC likely believes him to be dead. (Full Alert)

Military

Personnel:

Maybourne

Somewhere along the way, he picked up enough Ancient to be able to read it. (It's Good to Be King)

See " King Arkhan" for further information about Maybourne.

Trust

General info

After Kinsey was forced to resign the vice presidency, the Trust kicked him out (after first considering killing him outright), since he was no longer useful to them. (Full Alert)

The Trust operatives who escaped in the al-kesh managed to launch symbiote poison attacks against two more Goa'uld worlds, but to do so would have to have left the relative safety of the solar system. They were caught by a Goa'uld and implanted with symbiotes, and sent back to Earth to infiltrate (with more symbiotes), in hopes of getting Earth to blow itself up. (Full Alert)

It's possible that the entire Trust was taken over by symbiotes. (Full Alert)

Goa'ulded Trust members contacted Kinsey and asked him to set up a meeting with General Miroslav Kiselev, the Russian defense minister. It was a ruse -- in reality, they wanted to infest Kinsey with a Goa'uld so they could implicate a well-known American politician in an assassination attempt against a Russian (also Goa'ulded), to trigger escalating violence that they hoped would result in the destruction of the planet, more or less. (Full Alert)

Personnel

Jennings X

After he and Brooks escaped, they were caught by a Goa'uld and infested with symbiotes, then sent back to Earth with more symbiotes to spread the infestation and act as fifth columnists of sort, trying to start a nuclear war between Russia and the United States. (Full Alert)

He was one of the ones to contact Kinsey about setting up a meeting with General Kiselev. (Full Alert)

He was aboard the al-kesh when Kinsey was beamed aboard the Prometheus, at the controls. His only objection to firing on the Prometheus was that the Prometheus's shields were superior, and if the al-kesh didn't destroy it at the first salvo, they were in trouble. He had no problem with blowing  up  Kinsey,  who  was  a  liability  to  them  in  enemy  hands.  (Full Alert)

He tried to bluff when Kinsey ringed over to the al-kesh, saying that shooting at the Prometheus had been a distraction to let Kinsey free himself. Kinsey didn't buy it, and shot Jennings several times. (Full Alert)

If Jennings didn't die from the bullets, he died moments or minutes later, when the al-kesh was destroyed by the Prometheus. (Full Alert)

Russians

General info

The Russian military and administration were very nearly duped into starting a nuclear war by Goa'uld who had infested General Miroslav Kiselev and former US vice president Kinsey -- Kinsey made it look like he was trying to assassinate Kiselev, who responded to this " threat" by pushing the Russian military into ever higher levels of alert, until finally reaching full military preparedness (apparently the equivalent of Defcon 1). (Full Alert)

By the time Kiselev was starting to take action on his own, without authorization (taking a missile site and preparing to launch), Mikhailov had been contacted by Jack and Chekhov with word of Kiselev's probable status as a Goa'uld. Shortly after that, the Russians stood down, with the silo doors closing and bombers returning to base. (Full Alert)

Personnel

Colonel Chekhov

As of mid-2004, his aide (" right-hand man" ) was Captain Daria Voronkova. (Full Alert)

Arrived at the SGC as things got dicey in Moscow, trying to help Jack figure out what was going on over there by using some of his own sources, since offcial channels weren't telling either of them much of anything. (Full Alert)

He didn't want things to escalate any more than Jack did, and suggested contacting his friends in the General Staff and getting them to present a united front against escalation, hoping that it would give President Mikhailov sufficient leverage  against  General  Kiselev's  pressure to consider options other than going to full forces. He believed it was worth the risk of angering Kiselev and possibly making things worse. (Full Alert)

He also knew a few people on President Mikhailov's personal staff, and was willing to use those contacts to get a direct line to Mikhailov -- who wasn't taking calls from anyone at the time. Once Sam had come up with the photographic proof that Kiselev was probably Goa'ulded -- he was no longer wearing glasses, and he'd had glaucoma -- Chekhov put the call into motion. (Full Alert)

He was highly relieved when his people stood down after a tense few minutes after the contact with Mikhailov was broken just as Kiselev had started to make an unauthorized move toward launching first-strike missiles. (Full Alert)

Ruslan Chernovshev

He was General Kiselev's Chief of Staff / right-hand man. (Full Alert)

He was part of the plot to sell a captured Goa'uld symbiote to the rogue NID (later known as the Trust) in 2001 (the events of Desperate Measures). (Full Alert)

General Miroslav Kiselev

Background:

Graduated with a gold medal from Malinovskiy Tank Academy. (Full Alert)

Scroll down about half of this page if you want information about the academy and what/how it teaches/taught  -- nb, this is a US military page, not a Russian one.

Received the Hero of Russia (the  country's  highest  honorary  title)  for his distinguished leadership  in Chechnya. (Full Alert)

Commanded the Carpathian Military District Iron Division, then the 14th Army, in the Transcaucasus Military District. (Full Alert)

He was head of the General Staff Academy for five years before being appointed defense minister. (Full Alert)

After the fall of Communism, he was one of the officers assigned to pursue secret talks with the West aimed at military cooperation. (Full Alert)

He was a hard-liner, coming to the talks as though the Western powers were the ones at a disadvantage. (Full Alert)

According to Kinsey, the two of them developed a " mutual respect" during the talks. (Full Alert)

As of 2004, he was the Russian Defense Minister, with operational authority over all of Russia's armed forces, including the nuclear arsenal. (Full Alert)

He was suspicious of American global influence and highly critical of what he called " NATO expansion plans" . (Full Alert)

In 2004, he was infested with a Goa'uld symbiote brought back to Earth by Trust agents who'd been captured and infested by Goa'uld themselves. The symbiote cured his glaucoma, relieving him of the need to wear glasses. It also began its doing part in a plot to force the Russians and Americans into a massive nuclear conflict. (Full Alert)

After what appeared to be an assassination attempt on his life by former US vice president Kinsey, who had clearly been infested with a Goa'uld (i.e., anyone could see that Kinsey was a Goa'uld, from his eyes and voice), he started pressuring President Mikhailov to move against the United States, saying that the US administration was compromised. (Full Alert)

When some General Staff officers started opposing the escalation of tensions, Kiselev had them arrested on trumped-up charges. At the same time, he sent men after Daniel, who was in the cell with the Goa'uld questioning him. When his men drew weapons, Daniel beamed out with Kinsey in tow. (Full Alert)

Kiselev began trying to take action himself without authorization to finally push things past the point of no return: his men went after missile site 537 and apparently took control, with the silos opening and evidence of a firefight on the ground being caught by satellite. (Full Alert)

Shortly after that, the silo doors closed and Russian bombers turned for home -- Kiselev had failed. He was presumably either captured or killed, no idea which. (Full Alert)

President Mikhailov

President of Russia (obviously). (Full Alert)

He's spoken directly with Jack at some point in the past, apparently on good terms (" It's good to speak with you again" ). (Full Alert)

When the Russians foiled what they thought was an assassination attempt against General Kiselev, disovering the " assassin" was a Goa'uld who'd infested Kinsey, they went to a heightened state of alert on the assumption that the US administration had been compromised. Mikhailov wasn't happy with the situation, but was under heavy pressure from his military advisors -- mainly Kiselev. (Full Alert)

By the time the Russians had escalated to full military preparedness (in turn pushing the United States to Defcon 1), Mikhailov had stopped taking calls even from the White House, convinced that the administration was completely compromised. (Full Alert)

Despite that, he accepted a highly irregular call from Chekhov that came through back channels (personal friends of Chekhov's on Mikhailov's personal staff), and agreed to listen to what Jack and Chekhov had to say, even when they said that Kiselev was likely a Goa'uld. He let them send proof, but before he could say anything about it, Kiselev made his move, attempting to launch first-strike missiles without authorization. (Full Alert)

Whether because of the first-strike attempt or the evidence that Kiselev was a Goa'uld, Mikhailov clearly took control of the situation, likely using the list of sympathetic generals Chekhov had sent him to retake Russia's military and stop Kiselev. (Full Alert)

Captain Daria Voronkova

Colonel Chekhov's " right-hand man" . (Full Alert)

When she heard she'd be meeting Daniel, she expected a drab, pasty-faced, middle-aged academic. She was pleasantly surprised by the reality. (Full Alert)

She wasn't impressed with Daniel's level of conversational Russian, deciding that they'd stick to English instead. (Full Alert)

She took over very quickly, telling him that she was his guide and would set up any meetings or trips he needed, but that if he went out on his own she couldn't protect him, and if he lied to her or tried to mislead  her, she wouldn't protect him. (Full Alert)

She got Daniel in to see the Goa'ulded Kinsey, and tried to get him out when Kiselev's men showed up to take Daniel -- Daniel grabbed Kinsey and beamed out, leaving her behind. (Full Alert)

It's not clear if she was left alone or was taken into custody by Kiselev's men. If the latter, no idea what happened to her. (Full Alert)

Last name unknown.

Local sheriff for the Colorado Springs area. He and Jack are friends, and play poker together at least occasionally. (Full Alert)

Bert

He worked for Joe Spencer in Joe's barber shop. (Citizen Joe)

His wife was Cindy. (Citizen Joe)

Calvin

Mail carrier in a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, who delivered the mail to Joe Spencer's barber shop. (Citizen Joe)

Cindy

Bert's wife. She went all sniffly when Joe Spencer told the tale of " A Hundred Days" . (Citizen Joe)

Fred

Car salesman in a town in Hendricks County, Indiana. Joe Spencer was his barber. (Citizen Joe)

Andy Spencer

Joe and Sharlene Spencer's son. (Citizen Joe)

When he was small, he thought his father's stories about SG-1's adventures were cool. (Citizen Joe)

Joe Spencer

A barber from Indiana (in Hendricks County), with a wife (Sharlene) and son (Andy). (Citizen Joe)

His barber shop was called " Stylin' Joe" . (Citizen Joe)

He had two employees: Bert and Gordie. (Citizen Joe)

He had bowling league on Thursday nights -- he was good. (Citizen Joe)

In 1997, he found a " stone" at a yard sale and picked it up, and almost immediately his mind filled with images of the stargate and traveling through a wormhole. He bought the stone. (Citizen Joe)

The original owner's grandfather had found it on a dig in Egypt. (Citizen Joe)

He spent a year telling anyone who would stand still long enough to listen about all the " stories" that were filling his head, not realizing he was boring half of them to tears. By late 1998, his wife Sharlene was suggesting that he write the stories down and submit them to magazines instead. (Citizen Joe)

The magazines weren't interested -- he got 326 rejection letters within the first couple of years, including for stories about Hathor and Seth. (Citizen Joe)

At least some of his manuscripts used episode titles as their titles. (Citizen Joe)

By mid-2001, his writing/stories were affecting his work -- he'd started closing the shop early to come home and write, and people were avoiding the barber shop. His wife begged him to stop, and he admitted for the first time that he believed the stone was letting him see things that were actually happening. He tried to show her by having her use the stone to see for herself, but she'd thrown it away. He freaked and searched through the trash in the kitchen, then the garbage at the curb, until he found it. (Citizen Joe)

A few months later, Sharlene gave up and took Andy to go live with her mother. (Citizen Joe)

Gordie quit his job at the barber shop to work at the Piggly-Wiggly around the same time. (Citizen Joe)

The next year, he tried to reconcile with his wife, meeting her in a park and offering to work on rebuilding his business so he could provide for the family properly again. When she told him that it wasn't the money, it was his obsession, that drove her away, he assured that he understood -- and pulled out what he considered sufficient proof that he was correct in his assumption that the stories are real (news stories about events coinciding with events in his stories, such as the report of a Russian sub that sank in the Pacific right when Anibusis's ship crashed into the ocean). Sharlene told him she'd been talking to doctors who thought he was suffering from manic psychosis combined with grandiose delusions, but that with therapy and medications, he could live a normal life. Right about then, he started seeing Anubis's attack over Antarctica. She walked away. (Citizen Joe)

At some point after this, everything in his house was repossessed (by " Brothers Grimm Repo" ) for failure to pay property taxes and/or back taxes, and the house itself was put up for court-ordered sale, with the monies to go toward repaying his debt. (Citizen Joe)

Having lost everything, he went to Colorado Springs, walked into Jack O'Neill's house, and held him at gunpoint, blaming Jack for ruining his life. When Jack pulled out a real gun, Joe admitted his was a toy and put it down, then explained that he knew all about Jack, right down to his thing for Mary Steenburgen. (Citizen Joe)

Jack brought him to the SGC as a result of his obvious knowledge, where he was tested for the Ancient gene. (He also told Jack that he totally agreed: " Burns as Goa'uld" .) He was delighted to meet all of SG-1 (although he startled all of them by knowing a bit too much about them on first sight), and when they found out he did in fact have the gene, he offered to help out any time Jack might need someone to use the chair in Antarctica in defense of the planet. (Citizen Joe)

Once he'd gotten everything sorted out with the SGC, he went back home and asked Sharlene to meet him in the park again, this time with an ace up his sleeve: Jack had come along in full dress blues to meet her, and invited her to sit down because they all had " some things to talk about" . (Citizen Joe)

The first thing out of Jack's mouth as they sat down was " It's all true" . (Citizen Joe)

Presumably, this was enough to convince her not to file for divorce, as she said she was going to when she first arrived to meet him before Jack walked over. (Citizen Joe)

(Totally outside the show universe: Joe Spencer was played by Dan Castellaneta, who is the voice for Homer Simpson.)

Sharlene Spencer

Joe Spencer's wife. (Citizen Joe)

In 1997, she was in a book club -- one of the books they read was " The Heart of a Woman" , which moved her deeply. (Citizen Joe)

The book was an Oprah Book Club selection in May 1997.

When Joe started telling the stories that appeared in his head (thanks to the Ancient device that was connecting him to Jack without his knowledge), she decided that he was having a midlife crisis that was showing up as an outpouring of creativity, and urged him to follow his muse. After a year of his talking the ear off anyone who'd stand still long enough to listen, though, she was started to hear complaints from people, and suggested that he write them down instead of just telling them. (Citizen Joe)

By mid-2001, she had lost patience with his writing, believing that it was affecting their lives -- the bills were piling up because he was leaving work early to go home and write. She threw away his " stone" and begged him to stop writing. When he admitted that he couldn't because he wasn't making the stories up -- he believed they were really happening -- she started to think he'd lost his mind, which wasn't helped when he tried to have her use the stone to see for herself and realized she'd tossed it, and started hunting through the kitchen trash, then curbside garbage, until he found it. (Citizen Joe)

A few months later, she gave up and took Andy to go live with her mother. (Citizen Joe)

The next year, Joe tried to reconcile with her, meeting her in a park and offering to work on rebuilding his business so he could provide for the family properly again.

Months later, she went back to the park at Joe's request, telling him she could only stay ten minutes and that she was filing for divorce. She wasn't prepared to be introduced to the actual General Jack O'Neill (in full dress blues, no less), and agreed to sit down because they all had " some things to talk about" . Presumably, she dropped the divorce once Jack had his say -- the first thing out of his mouth once they sat down was " It's all true." (Citizen Joe)

Goa'uld

Goa'uld(s)

System Lords:

Amaterasu

As the System Lords's war with Baal came closer to utter defeat (with many System Lords dead or capitulating), she gathered her armies for what would likely be her last stand against him. No word on what happened. (It's Good to Be King)

Ares X

His Jaffas's symbol looked like a styllized plumed war helmet. (It's Good to Be King)

Once held domain over the planet where the Tok'ra dropped Harry Maybourne off. (It's Good to Be King)

He survived at least well into the System Lords's battle with Baal, and started looking for potential sanctuaries on abandoned planets, including the one where Maybourne had been left. (It's Good to Be King)

The ha'tak he was on was destroyed over the planet when Jack shot a couple of Ancient energy drones into it. There's no absolute proof one way or the other if Ares was still aboard, but considering the circumstances -- he was hunting for a refuge from Baal, and there were no other ships in sight for him to ring to, and no sign of a transporter beam heading for the planet -- it seems very likely that he died in the explosion. (It's Good to Be King)

Baal

He was making steady gains in his war with the System Lords. At some point in mid-2004, his forces killed Bastet and Olokun, and Morrigan capitulated to him. (It's Good to Be King)

Bastet X

Died in the war between Baal and the System Lords, sometime in mid-2004. (It's Good to Be King)

Morrigan

By roughly mid-2004, she had capitulated to Baal in the war between him and the System Lords. (It's Good to Be King)

Olokun X

Died in the war between Baal and the System Lords, sometime in mid-2004. (It's Good to Be King)

Yu

As the System Lords's war with Baal came closer to utter defeat (with many System Lords dead or capitulating), he gathered his armies for what would likely be his last stand against Baal. No word on what happened -- but clearly, regardless of the outcome, Yu had remained a power in the galaxy long beyond many other System Lords (including Bastet and Olokun, both dead at Baal's forces' hands). (It's Good to Be King)

One of the things that Goa'uld can cure is bad eyesight, even extremely bad eyesight (although possibly not actual blindness). (Full Alert)

Elder races

Ancients

At some point, an unnamed Ancient took a time machine (inside a small ship) to a planet and traveled along its timeline, studying the evolution of life there. He or she created an historical log of major events, recording it on a pillar. After completing it, he or she traveled back in time to roughly 1800 and abandoned the time machine. (It's Good to Be King)

Technology

Long-range communication device

Small, black,  paired " stones" that create a psychic connection between people who each have part of the set. Proximity to the stone is necessary for communication through it. (Citizen Joe)

Time-travel device

At least one working time-travel device, used from within a small ship (so the entire ship and its contents could travel through time). (It's Good to Be King)

Other races

Jaffa

Known Jaffa:

Trelak X

First Prime to Ares (whom he called " the great lord Ares" ). (It's Good to Be King)

He led the troop that went to the planet where Maybourne had been left, to take it back in Ares's name. He wasn't pleased with the level of resentment he found, and told " King Arkhan" (Maybourne) repeatedly that any resistance would be met with death. He was less pleased when he heard Tau'ri weapons in the distance. He had his men start checking the locals, and they quickly discovered Daniel and Teal'c, wearing robes over their SG uniforms and vests. (It's Good to Be King)

He promised Teal'c that he would make him suffer for a long time, and scoffed when Teal'c replied that he promised that he would kill Trelak quickly. Later, in hand-to-hand combat, Trelak got the upper hand at first. Teal'c gained control, though, and managed to shove Trelak's double-pointed knife -- in Trelak's fist at the time -- into Trelak's symbiote pouch. (It's Good to Be King)

Trelak's dying words were " You are a man of your word." Teal'c shoved the knife in further and walked away as Trelak collapsed. (It's Good to Be King)

Tok'ra

Culture:

Despite having no official alliance left with the Tau'ri, the Tok'ra continued to get information to the SGC when possible. When the war between the System Lords and Baal began to reach a critical stage, the Tok'ra passed along word of which System Lords had died,  which had capitulated, and which were trying for a final stand against Baal, as well as the warning that some of the remaining System Lords were actively seeking out refuge in the form of planets they'd abandoned long ago. (It's Good to Be King)

Misc. humans

Arkhan's people

General info

Originally under Ares's domain. He abandoned it long ago, no idea why. (It's Good to Be King)

Possibly the naquadah mine ran dry. (It's Good to Be King)

They have a complicated lunar calendar. (It's Good to Be King)

Currently has a very medieval-northern-Europe feel, but no one specific period. (It's Good to Be King)

The locals avoided the area around the naquadah mine, the site of their former enslavement. (It's Good to Be King)

After Maybourne successfully predicted a great flood that would destroy their village and got them all to move to higher ground for safety, the locals made him their king out of gratitude, becoming known as King Arkhan the First. (It's Good to Be King)

It's not clear whether he took the name Arkhan when he first arrived on the planet, or if that was just his " royal" name. (It's Good to Be King)

When Maybourne told them of the prophecy that offworlders would come and save them from a new incursion of an old enemy -- the Goa'uld -- the people believed him. (It's Good to Be King)

He may have left out the bit about " offworlders" -- Garan didn't trust SG-1 at all, and she probably would have if she'd thought they were destined to help her people. (It's Good to Be King)

The villagers believed him a little too completely -- when he told them they'd have to leave after all to be safe, they were sure that such a thing couldn't possible be necessary.   (It's Good to Be King)

The villagers were shocked and dismayed when " King Arkhan" exposed his own duplicity -- Maybourne told them the truth to try to save their lives, hoping that if they knew he was just a pretender that they'd agree to evacuate before Ares arrived. Before he could walk away after removing his crown, though, Garan recovered enough to rally the people around her, pointing out everything he'd done for them besides the prophecy and declaring him a true leader. To a steady chant of " Arkhan! Arkhan!" , Maybourne put his crown back on. (It's Good to Be King)

When Ares's Jaffa arrived, the villagers were resentful and didn't try to hide it, since they were sure they'd be safe. (It's Good to Be King)

One of the local fruits was called an " ojen fruit" until Maybourne described it as a cross between a guava and a mango, and Daniel sarcastically termed it a " guango" -- Maybourne liked the name and decreed that that was what it would be called henceforth. (It's Good to Be King)

Known locals

King Arkhan

aka Harry Maybourne. I have no idea why he went with " Arkhan" as a name, or if the locals gave it to him after he was crowned.

Somewhere along the way, he picked up enough Ancient to be able to read it. (It's Good to Be King)

He had at least two wives, possibly more. (It's Good to Be King)

Maybourne got dropped off on the planet by the Tok'ra after the events of Paradise Lost and lived among the locals for more than a year, presumably with no special privileges. When on a long walk one day he discovered some ruins, including pillars that held Ancient writing -- one of them holding a detailed description of what would happen in the future. He took the knowledge he gained from reading that and warned the village about a great flood that would destroy their village, convincing them to move to higher ground for safety. In gratitude, they made him their king. (It's Good to Be King)

The shield behind his throne was quartered (heraldic terms in parens at the end of each, and hopefully I got them right):

(top left) gold  crown on black background (sable on a quarterly, a crown or)

(top right) black lion rampant  (facing left), on a gold background (or on a quarterly, a lion rampant sable)

(bottom right) gold star on a black background (sable on a quarterly, a star or)

(bottom left) black stargate on a gold background (or on a quarterly, a stargate sable)

He was having a lot of fun being king, naming whatever took his fancy (e.g., the " Grateful Dead" burial ground) and generally just revelling in the power. (It's Good to Be King)

While king, he introduced some new things into the culture:

Designed a new water mill

Introduced new medicines

Introduced a legal code

Set up an irrigation system

He admitted to having used his " prophetic" knowledge to his own advantage at first, but said that after being made king, he'd grown to truly care about his people, and that he wanted to help them. To all appearances, he was telling the truth. (It's Good to Be King)

He believed the prophecies a little too thoroughly, without thinking them out -- when he saw that offworlders would arrive and defeat " the old enemy" according to the pillar, he assured the villagers that they would be safe when the Goa'uld showed up, never stopping to think about casualties. When Jack pointed that possibility out, Maybourne tried to talk the village elders into leaving, but they also believed him and the prophecies a little too thoroughly. It didn't help that he clearly didn't want to admit to having been wrong originally. (It's Good to Be King)

Very much to his credit, when he realized that the villagers had no intention of leaving because they believed him infallible, Maybourne came down off the stairs (where he'd been speaking) to their level and admitted he hadn't been completely honest, saying he wasn't a seer, just a " regular guy" who found the prophecies on the wall of the old temple and knew how to interpret them. He removed his crown as he apologized for taking advantage of them. (It's Good to Be King)

When Garan pointed out all the other things he'd done for their people beyond the prophecies and got the people rallied behind her chanting his name, he put the crown back on, clearly pleased (okay, and a little smug, but he'd earned it there). (It's Good to Be King)

He started playing for time when Ares's Jaffa showed up, sucking up to Trelak (the First Prime) and assuring him that he'd have the people's cooperation. He did his best to cover for the villagers' obvious resentment of the Jaffa and gave no hint of SG-1's or Jack's presence, going so far as to ask " What's a 'Tau'ri'?" when Trelak heard gunfire in the distance. (It's Good to Be King)

Trelak didn't buy that Maybourne hadn't known anything, and started to throttle him. After Trelak tossed him aside to go after Teal'c when Teal'c and Daniel started fighting their captors, Maybourne took a second to recover then grabbed a nearby pot and smashed it over Trelak's head. It didn't do any good, but it was a nice move. He went for a length of metal pipe (or something) next, but Teal'c took out Trelak before he needed to use it. (It's Good to Be King)

Garan

She was the leader of a hunting party, and had no problem capturing SG-1 after they came through the gate. Later, she took a sortie to capture Sam, Daniel, and Jack near the Ancient ship on her own initiative, not trusting the strangers who appeared to be trying to take the villagers' king away from them. (It's Good to Be King)

She was devoted to King Arkhan (Maybourne). (It's Good to Be King)

She didn't trust SG-1 at all, and thought Jack was lying when he said Arkhan wasn't a seer. (It's Good to Be King)

When Arkhan told the villagers that he'd been lying about being a seer, and instead had just gotten his prophetic knowledge off the walls of the old temple, Garan was clearly shocked. When he took off his crown and started to walk away, though, she rallied and started listing off all the things that he had done for the villagers without aid of the temple writings, saying that those weren't the acts of a pretender, but a leader. (It's Good to Be King)

When Teal'c and Daniel were busy fighting the Jaffa in the courtyard, she pitched in by shooting the Jaffa currently trying to strangle Daniel, getting him in the back with a crossbow bolt. She probably killed him, but it's not confirmed. (It's Good to Be King)

Citizen Joe

The calendar hanging up in Joe's barbershop right after he finds the Ancient " stone" says August 1997, but the initial events he saw were from Within the Serpent's Grasp. If that's correct, all the events of first season happen within six to seven months (there's specific, spoken canon placing the events of Children of the Gods on February 10, 1997). That has to be wrong. (A longer nitpick about this is in the Individual Episodes section for Citizen Joe.)

Individual episodes:

It's Good to Be King

Why was Garan so suspicious of SG-1? The prophecy clearly stated that offworlders would save them from " the old enemy" , so she should have been glad to see them.

The obvious answer is that Maybourne never mentioned that part, at least to her, but that seems really strange.

Full Alert

Why would Jack object to having ranking members of the US administration tested for Goa'uld? It's a good idea, especially if an unknown number of symbiotes made it to the planet in unknown hands with the express purpose of gaining control of as much of the planet as possible. He should have been on the phone immediately setting it up. He knows better than anyone that Trust members can be found at all levels -- look at Kinsey.

What happened to Captain Voronkova? Was she let go? Arrested? Interrogated? Killed?

Citizen Joe

Timeline glitch: The calendar hanging up in Joe's barbershop right after he finds the Ancient " stone" says August 1997, but the initial events he saw were from Within the Serpent's Grasp. If that's correct, all the events of first season happen within six to seven months (there's specific, spoken canon placing the events of Children of the Gods on February 10, 1997).

I don't like the idea of ignoring an obviously placed bit of prop canon like that (even though I've done it before), especially since we were never given a date for the events at the end of first season, but if August is right, it throws off everything else -- there's absolutely no way to tell when anything happened, even down to what year it happened. This even applies to events in the past -- most of those are guesses based on people saying things like " 80 years ago" , and if I don't know what year it was when they said that... So I have to ignore the calendar.

nb: The August 1997 on the calendar was not taken from the airdate -- Within the Serpent's Grasp first aired in March 1998, seven to eight months later. I have no idea how or why the show decided August was a good time to pick.

In fact, the timeline could be even more severely off if that calendar is correct. Unless Jack touched the stone at an earlier point that we weren't shown, he hadn't picked it up at the SGC until after the events of Serpent's Lair (but before Family) -- he mentions to Daniel that they have a briefing because Aphosis " may not be so dead as we thought" , which would push the events of early second season into August 1997. (Jack has to have touched the stone already by the time Joe picked his up, or he wouldn't have gotten any images from it.)

It's entirely possible that Jack handled the stone earlier without sensing anything from it -- it's very unlikely that he and Joe picked the stones up at the same time, yet Joe clearly had a " vision" as soon as he touched his, and Jack's reaction in Daniel's lab strongly suggests that he was seeing a bit of Joe's life there. So he probably " activated" his earlier, which would mean it wouldn't matter when he picked it up in Daniel's lab -- Joe could still have found his right around the events of Within the Serpent's Grasp / Serpent's Lair.

Yes, I'm really obsessing this much over a calendar...

Timeline glitch: In the " one year ago" segment, Joe insists that " Jack O'Neill is head of Stargate Command" -- but at that point, Hammond was still the head of the SGC.

Casting glitch: Probably incredibly nitpicky to mention it, but Andy (the kid) went from about seven  to about fifteen in four years flat.

I know, I know, they like to do meta episodes that poke fun at themselves and the fans. But having the titles of Joe's stories be identical to episode titles is too much.

Given Jack's past, I can't see him ever leaving the house unlocked with guns in easy reach of anyone who happened to wander in, particuarly when the gun appeared to be loaded (although I'm entirely willing to believe that he was bluffing on that score, because the thought of him keeping a loaded gun rattling around loose in his kitchen drawer just doesn't compute, especially considering what happened to Charlie.) For that matter, I have a really hard time believing he'd leave a gun (loaded or otherwise) in such an easily accessible place even if if did lock his doors religiously.

How do the Ancient stone-thingies work, beyond the obvious? Are specific pairs on the same frequency, so if you want to be connected to more than one person, you need to have many stones? If not, how does the " party-line" effect get handled? (You'd go insane being subject to dozens or hundreds of lives any time you touched the stone.) Do they get attuned to the one person who activates them and then can't be used by anyone else? Is it possible to shut them down, or to block someone from seeing what you're doing? (I mean, really -- that could get embarrassing if not...)

If Joe needed to touch the stone in order to see what was going on in Jack's life/mind (which definitely seemed to be the case, right up until Anubis's attack over Antarctica -- at which point Jack was functionally an actual Ancient, so presumably the connection was stronger), how come Jack just needed to be near the stone -- " a few floors away" , so not even very near -- in order to see bits of Joe's? He clearly wasn't seeing Joe at the time Joe was touching his stone, he was seeing other things.

Where did Jack write all his reports all those years? He didn't even know he had an office (New Order), and if the stone was stored " a few levels up" in Archives (level 24), he has to have written them on level 25, 26, 27, or 28. The last one is extremely unlikely, and while level 25 is a possibility (he could have taken over a VIP room), that wouldn't account for Daniel's " a few levels up" .

Thanks!

Revamped entire site

Broke it out into Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and redid the look and feel a bit. Hopefully it's cleaner and easier now -- please let me know if you have any problems with it, or if you spot something that clearly didn't get changed.

Jack

Career:

Base commander:

He okayed the Atlantis expedition to the Pegasus galaxy (I'm not sure why Hammond didn't do that), and when the last of them had gone through, gently rolled a magnum of champagne through the gate before shutting it down. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Repeatedly, and very calmly, refused to let Daniel join the expedition. (Daniel wasn't exactly pushing hard to join, just pointing out that he wouldn't mind going.) (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Random Misc.:

The Antarctic is one of his least-favorite continents. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Daniel

Career:

Got assigned for an indeterminate time to the Ancient outpost to continue the search for the Lost City. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Eventually he figured out that they'd all missed something: the Ancients had moved on to another galaxy. Once he realized that the " seventh" gate symbol they'd found (the symbol for Earth, the point of origin) was really the eighth, he also found the actual seventh symbol, completing the address. With that, it became possible to travel to what they hoped would be Atlantis, if they could find enough power for the wormhole. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He helped talk Jack into allowing the mission to Atlantis to go forward, but couldn't get permission for himself. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Over Jack's objections, he was hand-picked by Hammond to join the Prometheus crew (led by Hammond himself) to travel to the Pegasus galaxy and check up on the Atlantis expedition. (Prometheus Unbound)

Misc.:

He was wearing a North Face jacket (specifically the Denali Thermal Jacket, I believe) while assigned to the Ancient outpost. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Sam

Misc.:

The house she grew up in had an attic and a backyard with a willow tree in it. (Gemini)

Situational

" Foxtrot alpha six"

In Replicator-Sam's memory, this is the code that gets announced when she starts shooting up the gateroom. Given that, it seems likely that this means " immediate alien threat" -- presumably it's the level immediately before a Foothold situation, which occurs after the aliens have taken control of the base. (Gemini)

Technology:

Other alien

Disruptor

The hand-held version of the Replicator-killing weapon that disrupts the kiron-pathway connections between the individual blocks. (Gemini)

Jack designed the weapon while his mind contained the Ancient repository of knowledge, and while he was being housed in Thor's onboard computers. After the weapon was used on the surface of Othala to help beat back the Replicators there, SG-1 apparently brought it home with them. (The Asgard already had modified, larger versions of it by that point.) (New Order, Gemini)

It isn't exactly hand-held -- it fits over the hand and forearm, covering them entirely, with the controls on the inside. (Gemini)

It emits a pulse, rather than projectiles or a beam of some sort. (Gemini)

SGC personnel

Sgt. Davis

Hammond specifically tapped him to go along with Hammond aboard the Prometheus to the Pegasus galaxy to check on the Atlantis expedition. (Prometheus Unbound)

He was captured by Vala and sent to the crippled al-kesh along with just about everyone else aboard. While there, he managed to get several secondary systems up and running, and discovered that the nearby crippled cargo ship was in even worse shape, with almost no life support left. (Prometheus Unbound)

When Hammond went over to the cargo ship to salvage power crystals, he was visibly worried about him. (Prometheus Unbound)

After the al-kesh was repaired and had caught up to the Prometheus, he was the one on weapons firing at other al-kesh and gliders to protect the Prometheus. He took out two al-kesh that way -- looking very pleased with himself about it. (Prometheus Unbound)

Lt. Aiden Ford

He was assigned at least briefly to the Ancient outpost in the Antarctic. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

When Weir picked her team to travel to Atlantis, Ford was one of the military personnel to go. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Hammond

Post-SGC career

His promotion to head of Homeworld Security involved a promotion in rank, as well, to lieutenant general (three stars). Rank confirmed in Prometheus Unbound -- there'd been no indication prior to that.

Leading Prometheus against Anubis's fleet over Antarctica renewed his interest in staying involved with things rather than retiring -- it " got [his] dander up," as Daniel put it -- which is why he took the position as head of Homeworld Security. (Prometheus Unbound)

When President Hayes put Hammond in charge of the Prometheus mission to check on the Atlantis expedition once the Asgard hyperdrive was working properly, he chose to put himself in command of the mission. (Prometheus Unbound)

After sending so many people out on so many missions over the years, some of whom never came back, Hammond wanted to see this one through personally, determined not to leave anyone behind. (Prometheus Unbound)

He returned to the SGC for the first time several months after his promotion to request (order...) Daniel for the mission aboard the Prometheus to the Pegasus galaxy to check on the Atlantis expedition. (Prometheus Unbound)

While he was there, he also laid claim to the office chair he'd left behind, saying his new one wasn't as comfortable. (Prometheus Unbound)

En route to Pegasus, he authorized a detour to check out a distress call. It was a ruse -- Vala invaded the ship disguised as a kull warrior, and transported (via rings) almost everyone aboard over to the crippled al-kesh she'd sent the distress call from. (Prometheus Unbound)

Hammond was mightily pissed about the theft, and when the suggestion was made that they raid the nearby damaged cargo ship for its power crystals, he chose to go himself. The ship was in bad shape -- the life support systems weren't cycling the air, and the ship was full of leftover CO2 from staff blasts from the onboard firefight. He got the crystals and managed to get to the ring room before collapsing, tossing them inside the transporter space to be sure they made it back to the al-kesh to save his people. Fortunately, Novak, Reynolds, and Walter  had realized what must have happened, and Reynolds ringed in as the crystals ringed out, pulling Hammond into the transporter circle and bringing him safely back to the al-kesh. (Prometheus Unbound)

Now commander of the al-kesh, Hammond went in pursuit of the Prometheus as soon as the engines were back online.   (Prometheus Unbound)

When the Prometheus went into hyperspace it threw a monkeywrench into his plans, but nothing insurmountable. They kept pursuing and eventually caught up in time to save Daniel (and Vala) from a firefight with at least two other al-kesh and several gliders, where the Prometheus's shields had failed and weapons were almost depleted. (Prometheus Unbound)

Safely back aboard the Prometheus, he had to scrub the rest of the mission to Atlantis -- the ship's hull had taken too much damage to risk such a long journy in hyperspace. (Prometheus Unbound)

Dr. Lindsey Novak

She apparently got asked to go with the Atlantis expedition, but turned it down because she doesn't handle stress very well. (Prometheus Unbound)

She gets (severe) hiccups when she's scared. (Prometheus Unbound)

Part of the Prometheus' crew, assigned to the Asgard hyperdrive, during the mission to the Pegasus galaxy to check in on the Atlantis expedition. (Prometheus Unbound)

According to Daniel, General Hammond said she's very good at what she does. (Prometheus Unbound)

She was trapped aboard a crippled al-kesh along with everyone else when Vala took over the Prometheus. (Prometheus Unbound)

When Hammond went to the nearby crippled cargo ship to salvage its power crystals in hopes that they could help power the al-kesh's engines, she talked him through which crystals to select from where. When they lost contact with him, she's the one who figured out he'd pretty much been breathing CO2, spurring Reynolds to action. (Prometheus Unbound)

She got the al-kesh's systems back up and working after the crystals were salvaged, making it possible for the al-kesh to follow the stolen Prometheus and even save its bacon during a firefight against some other al-kesh and death gliders. (Prometheus Unbound)

By the end of it all, her hiccups had disappeared completely. (Prometheus Unbound)

Reynolds

Still in command of SG-3, he led his team on the Prometheus mission to the Pegasus galaxy to check up on the Atlantis expedition. They were tasked with checking out a crippled al-kesh that was the source of a distress call the Prometheus picked up while still in the galaxy. He was trapped there along with the rest of his team, and then with the rest of the Prometheus crew, barring Daniel. (Prometheus Unbound)

He originally offered to ring over to the even more badly crippled cargo ship nearby in hopes of salvaging some of its power crystals, but Hammond, who was angry at the loss of his ship and determined to do something about it himself, overrode him. (Prometheus Unbound)

When it was clear that Hammond had probably collapsed on the cargo ship from lack of oxygen, Reynolds ringed over and brought him back. Hammond wasn't breathing, though, and Reynolds was the best choice to give him mouth-to-mouth, since he was right there. After a (completely inexplicable) pause during which he looked horrified at the very thought of doing any such thing, he started to arrange Hammond's head in the appropriate position. Before he could do more than that, Hammond started breathing on his own. (Prometheus Unbound)

After the al-kesh was fixed and had found Prometheus again, then saved it in a firefight, Reynolds and his team stayed behind on the al-kesh to guard it (it was being salvaged) when everyone else ringed back over to the Prometheus to start getting back to normal. They were all knocked out and ringed back to the Prometheus when Vala stole the al-kesh and escaped. (Prometheus Unbound)

Colonel Sumner

He was clearly SGC, but it's not clear what unit he was with prior to joining the Atlantis expedition. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He was less than pleased to have Sheppard  under his command -- he'd heard about Sheppard's direct disobeying of an order in Afghanistan, and wanted to be sure that Sheppard understood that he wouldn't tolerate any violating of the chain of command. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Weir

Was involved to some degree with a man named Simon -- possibly married to him, but that's never stated (and neither of them were wearing a wedding band). (SGA: Rising pt 1)

When she was getting ready to leave for Atlantis, she created a videotape for him, explaining what she was doing and why, in the hope that President Hayes would grant him the security clearance he needed to see it. She never went to see him, or called him. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Still commanded by Major Reynolds, SG-3 joined the Prometheus mission headed for the Pegasus galaxy to check on the Atlantis expedition. (Prometheus Unbound)

They transported (via rings) to an al-kesh the Prometheus came across, dead in space, to investigate a distress signal and determine if the al-kesh was salvageable. (Prometheus Unbound)

They were trapped aboard the al-kesh when Vala used the rings to transport over to the Prometheus so she could steal it, locking the controls behind her.

General info

As soon as the Asgard hyperdrive engines were tested and found to be working properly, the Prometheus was fitted out for a trip to the Pegasus galaxy to check on the Atlantis expedition. (Gemini)

Equipment

Transporter rings

Located on level four, in the " ring room" . (Prometheus Unbound)

Weapons, including P-90s in an armory. (Prometheus Unbound)

Booster thingie to turn a P-90 into a kull-warrior-killer. (Prometheus Unbound)

Under Hammond's command

Hammond took the Prometheus out again, with a crew that included Daniel and Walter (both hand-picked for the mission), to journey to the Pegasus galaxy with the help of the new Asgard hyperdrive to check on the Atlantis mission and offer aid if necessary. (Prometheus Unbound)

While they were still in the Milky Way, they intercepted a distress call and went to investigate. (Prometheus Unbound)

While SG-3 was checking out the al-kesh that was the source of the distress call, an apparent kull warrior invaded the Prometheus and began taking over the ship. Everyone aboard with the exception of Daniel Jackson (who had started skulking about as soon as he spotted the " kull" warrior) was captured and ringed over to the al-kesh. (Prometheus Unbound)

Vala (who had been disguised as the kull warrior) took the Prometheus and headed it toward a meeting she already had set up. Daniel (the only one of the original mission still aboard) wrested control back eventually, but to little avail -- they'd been followed to the planet, and he was attacked by death gliders minutes after landing and walking out onto the surface. (Prometheus Unbound)

The ship took some major hull damage in the firefight, and was unable to complete the mission to Atlantis even after Hammond regained command. It returned home. (Prometheus Unbound)

Military

Personnel:

Major John Sheppard

Has flown the Apache, Black Hawk, Cobra, and Osprey helicopters,  possibly  in  training  for  his  assignment  to  the  Antarctic. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Links go off-site to Air Force informational pages about each helicopter.

It's not clear if he was Army or Air Force -- his wings looked Air Force to me, but those are all helicopters, suggesting an Army pilot. If he was Air Force, it's not clear if he was strictly a helicopter pilot, or if he flew regular fighers/craft as well. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He picked up a black mark on his record for something that happened in Afghanistan -- he disobeyed a direct order to save the lives of three servicemen. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

The Antarctic was the one continent he hadn't been to -- he made it there eventually, and was the pilot assigned to fly Jack (by helicopter) to the Ancient outpost. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He'd never even heard of the stargate or the SGC, never mind the Ancient outpost itself. Jack gave him security clearance to enter the facility after they'd nearly been shot down, and his first exposure to alien technology (other than almost being shot down...) was when he sat in the Ancient command chair and activated it. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He appeared to be a true natural talent at Ancient technology -- it responded very strongly to him, seemingly as strongly as to Jack when Jack had the Ancient database in his head helping things along. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

When Weir asked him to join the expedition to Atlantis, he hesitated. Jack snarked at him for it, saying anyone who didn't want to go through the stargate was just as whacked as someone who didn't want to fly (Sheppard had just told him that anyone who didn't want to fly was crazy). Jack told him that if he couldn't give him a yes by the time they hit McMurdo, Jack didn't want him anyway. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

It looked like he did indeed give a yes -- he wound up back in the States while the Atlantis expedition was assembling, rather than staying in Antarctica. But he still wasn't positive about it -- he was flipping a coin to check the outcome. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He liked it in Antarctica. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

He thinks people who don't want to fly are crazy. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Area 51:

McKay

Was assigned to the Ancient outpost to study the Ancient technology there and try to figure out how to make it work, or interface with current tech.  (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Had a cat.  (SGA: Rising pt 1)

When he joined the Atlantis expedition, he gave the cat to his neighbor to care for. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Misc. Tau'ri

Simon

Involved to some degree with Elizabeth Weir -- possibly married, but that's never stated (and he wasn't wearing a wedding band). (SGA: Rising pt 1)

When Weir was getting ready to leave for Atlantis, she created a videotape for him, explaining what she was doing and why, in the hope that President Hayes would grant him the security clearance he needed to see it. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Fortunately, Hayes did. If he hadn't, Simon would have had no clue why the woman he loved had just vanished. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Before the tape could even finish, Simon had paused it and was trying to contact Weir on her cellphone, to no avail. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Goa'uld

Goa'uld(s)

System Lords:

Camulus:

At some point in the mid-1990s (probably 1994-1995), he took over Vala's home planet, after athe people had risen up against their Goa'uld overlord (Vala's symbiote). (Prometheus Unbound)

Elder races

Ancients

Millions of years ago, the Ancients lived in the city of Atlantis on the Antarctic continent, protected by a force shield. (SGA: Rising, pt 1)

Several million years ago (likely at least 3 million), they left Earth, flying away in the city itself, apparently headed for the Pegasus galaxy. (SGA: Rising, pt 1)

They left behind an armed outpost with an Ancient as a guardian of some sort -- probably Ayiana, but there's no definitive proof of that (the actress was the same, but no one said her name). (SGA: Rising, pt 1)

This later proved vital to the defense of Earth against Anubis. Jack used the control chair to launch energy weapons against the attacking force, and defeated them soundly. (Lost City part 2)

Technology

ZPM

Gets/generates its power from vacuum energy, derived from a self-containing region of space/time. (SGA: Rising pt 1)

Asgard

Technology:

Disruptor satellites

Modified from the ship-based version of the disruptor that Thor created, which was in turn modified from the original hand-held version of the disruptor that Jack had created with the help of the Ancient knowledge in his mind. (New Order, Gemini)

Other races

Replicators

General info:

All Replicators are part of a subspace network of communication going on all the time, keeping them in contact with each other. (New Order, Gemini)

Humanoid Replicators:

Fifth

According to Replicator-Sam, he had amassed a good bit of knowledge about Ancient technology from databanks assimilated from captured Asgard ships. (Gemini)

nb: R-Sam is an extremely unreliable narrator, so there's no way to know if this is true or not. (Gemini)

He hated Jack a whole lot, knowing that it was Jack who originally ordered Sam to betray him back on Hala. (Gemini)

He believed Replicator-Sam was completely loyal to him, and trusted her implicitly when she went to play the humans for fools, assuming that he'd come out of the situation with enough information about the disruptor technology that he could protect himself and the other Replicators. Instead, R-Sam played him for a fool, manipulating the situation solely to her own advantage. He died when she fired the satellite disruptor weapon over the alpha site directly at the Replicator ship he was on. (Gemini)

" Samantha Carter"

Created after Fifth first captured, then released, human Sam -- he captured her both to have her with him forever because he loved her, and to torment her because she had betrayed him. (New Order)

He gave her all of the memories and knowledge he'd found in Sam's mind, along with her thought patterns, turning her into a true copy. (Gemini)

According to her, he gave her the information slowly, over time, trying to isolate aspects of Sam's personality to shape Replicator-Sam into a version more to his liking. But the aspects of Sam's personality that he was most drawn to were the aspects that had rejected him, so Replicator-Sam wound up rejecting him, too. (Gemini)

She's a completely unreliable narrator, so there's no way of knowing how much of this is true. (Gemini)

Her first memory was waking up in " that room" , but almost immediately other memories, of " her" childhood, started appearing. (Gemini)

This is likely entirely true -- she definitely had memories that human-Sam recognized immediately.. (Gemini)

Four months later, Replicator-Sam contacted the SGC from a planet on the outer edge of the Milky Way, using the IDC code she had from Sam's memories. She first sent a text message asking them to send a MALP, then, through that connection, told them that she needed their help: she wanted to be destroyed, and she wanted them to use the Ancient weapon Jack had designed to kill Replicators (the disruptor). (Gemini)

She was (apparently) given the location for the alpha site and gated in alone, then brought to what looked like an interrogation room (probably actually just a briefing room of some kind), where Teal'c guarded her with the disruptor  while human-Sam dealt with her via remote camera feed. (Gemini)

She was playing a dangerous game, manipulating both Sam and Fifth to put herself in a position of power, pretending to be helping each of them get the information they wanted. (Gemini)

Dealing with the humans, she trusted  her memories of Sam's life to let her manipulate the situation. She convinced Sam that she hated Fifth and everything he was doing, although she couldn't bring herself to act directly against him or her Replicator brethren. She played on Sam's sympathies, especially regarding suffering at Fifth's hands, and played on Teal'c's respect for people willing to die to do the right thing -- every time she told Teal'c to kill her, he believed her a little bit more (although he never truly trusted her), and Sam, especially, bought into it. (Gemini)

She claimed that Fifth had figured out how to overcome the disruptor's effects, and had changed all the Replicators except her -- he was coming, and there would be nothing the humans could do to stop it. (Gemini)

She gained Sam's trust enough that Sam actually alllowed Replicator-Sam to stick a hand in her head in order to share memories of what Fifth had done to R-Sam. (Gemini)

According to what human-Sam saw, R-Sam was made to shoot and kill everyone she saw after coming through the stargate back on Earth, including Jack (during an illusion/simulation in which she " was" human-Sam -- it was meant to force her to break the ties with her  old,  remembered  life,  so  she  could  be  with  Fifth). (Gemini)

She " let" human-Sam talk her into helping them defeat the other Replicators by re-modifying the disruptor

Once she had their trust enough that they were allowing her to examine the schematics for the disruptor, she told them that Fifth had been able to introduce a cipher into the kiron pathways that control the molecular cohesion of all Replicators, making them immune to the disruptor's effects. She claimed that he didn't change her molecular structure or let her know the cipher, because he was beginning to sense her withdrawal and didn't trust her -- she was " too much like [Sam]" . (Gemini)

She was lying -- she was trying to get enough information about the disruptor that she could actually create such a cipher to protect the Replicators. (Gemini)

She was careful to always let human-Sam talk her into the next step of whatever needed to be done, making sure she looked reluctant and even fearful, to let human-Sam think she was in control of the situation. (Gemini)

At the same time, she allowed Fifth to believe she was helping him out of loyalty and some sort of affection, keeping him updated on her progress in deluding the humans without ever giving away her actual purpose. (Gemini)

She was contemptous of Fifth, considering him weak and unworthy/unable to lead the Replicators. She kept that hidden from him, though. (Gemini)

After enough time studying the disruptor, she figured out how to create a real cipher, and implemented it in her own internal programming, becoming immune to the disruptor's effects. (Gemini)

When she judged the time was right -- basically, when Fifth and his ship was only 15 minutes or so away -- she told Sam she'd found the cipher and pretended to be modifying the satellite, not wanting to tip her hand yet. Shortly thereafter, she went into mental communication with Fifth even as she fired the (unmodified) satellite disruptor, destroying him and his ship while they were talking. (Gemini)

She took a few nanoseconds to gloat at Sam in the privacy of their minds, then, realizing that Sam would have set the naquadah generators to overload to blow the base, she melded with the base computer system and took everything offline, cutting off all power to stop the explosion and give herself time to make it to the gateroom. (Gemini)

Along the way, she took out pretty much everyone she saw. (Gemini)

In the gateroom, she merged with the computer again to bring the power up so she could escape, then used the computer to dial the gate (rather than the DHD sitting right there). Human-Sam and Teal'c tried to stop her, with Teal'c holding her by one arm so she couldn't complete her journey through the outgoing wormhole. Finally, she simply " disconnected" that arm, leaving it behind in Teal'c's hands to disintegrate. (Gemini)

She shut down the cohesive energy between the Replicator blocks/cells that made up the arm when she left it behind, to make it harder to figure out what she'd done to make herself immune to the disruptor. (Gemini)

With Fifth dead, she took over as leader of the Replicators. (Gemini)

Tenat

He had a deal with Vala , to trade a chest full of weapons-grade refined naquadah for a ship. (Prometheus Unbound)

He was less than pleased when Daniel showed up instead, furious when Daniel said the ship (the Prometheus) wasn't for sale, and freaked when Goa'uld death gliders showed up. Daniel zatted him and took off. (Prometheus Unbound)

Vala's people

General info

NB: All information about Vala's people in general is suspect, since it all comes from Vala herself and she didn't appear to be the most reliable of narrators. So this might be true, or it might not.

They were once ruled by a Goa'uld who was using Vala as a host. (Prometheus Unbound)

After a Tok'ra-induced uprising, they captured and tortured Vala in an outburst of anger over how " she" had ruled them, beating her for days on end. They didn't understand that their true enemy was the symbiote inside her. (Prometheus Unbound)

Shortly after the Tok'ra (possibly feeling guilty) rescued Vala, removing the symbiote and nursing her back to health, another Goa'uld showed up to claim the world for his own: Camulus. (Prometheus Unbound)

When the people refused to surrender, Camulus ordered them wiped out. (Prometheus Unbound)

They had a handful of ships -- troop transports, cargo ships, al-kesh -- and got as many people as possible to a nearby, inhabitable moon. The ships made several trips before most of them were shot down, and Camulus never knew about the survivors. (Prometheus Unbound)

Although the moon saved their lives, they were trapped there -- it had no stargate, and they had too few ships left to transport everyone again. (Prometheus Unbound)

For a while, that was no problem -- they used their handful of ships to keep an eye on what Camulus's forces were doing on the homeworld, and to steal supplies and technology where possible. Camulus never went looking for them, and he ignored the other planetary bodies in the system so never found them even accidentally. (Prometheus Unbound)

After Camulus was defeated by Baal, Baal's ships started showing up everywhere, searching every inhabitable body in Camulus's territory. Vala went looking for a ship large enough to transport all of her people to a safer world, far away. (Prometheus Unbound)

Known people

Vala

She was once a host to a Goa'uld (unnamed). (Prometheus Unbound)

The naquadah left in her bloodstream allowed her to use the kull's body armor and weapons, use a healing device (smaller than the standard healing devices), and quickly figure out how to fly the Prometheus. (Prometheus Unbound)

In roughly 1994, a Tok'ra arrived on her world and incited an uprising against the Goa'uld ruler -- Vala (or at least, Vala's symbiote). The people captured her alive, tortured her, and beat her for days, not understanding the difference between host and symbiote (or even that there was a symbiote involved). The Tok'ra, possibly feeling guilty for his part in it, rescued her and removed the symbiote, then nursed her back to health. (Prometheus Unbound)

There's no proof for this beyond Vala's word, but the part about once being host to a Goa'uld symbiote, at least, is pretty likely to be accurate -- she could use Goa'uld technology without any problem. (Prometheus Unbound)

She implied that somehow she became involved with her people again, but that shortly after the original uprising, Camulus arrived to claim the planet, and when her people resisted, ordered them all killed. After being driven off their world in their attempt to escape Camulus's massacre decree, then facing the threat of Baal finding them after he took over Camulus's domain, she went looking for a larger ship than the few small ones they still had available, in hopes of rescuing all her surviving people and bringing them to a safe world far away. (Prometheus Unbound)

nb: Everything in the above paragraph is suspect. It's the story she told Daniel in hopes of getting him to let her go. (Prometheus Unbound)

What she didn't mention, but which later became clear, was that she'd made a deal with

She sent out a distress call from a crippled al-kesh, hoping to find a ship that would be big enough to suit her purposes. She got the Prometheus. She used a kull warrior's body armor as a disguise and captured the entire ship, ringing its crew over to the al-kesh in groups. The only person she didn't find was Daniel Jackson. She found him later, when he shot her twice with a P-90 modified to kill kull warriors. The shots had no effect on her, and she zatted him then tied him up in a chair. (Prometheus Unbound)

She got the sublight engines working on her own, and by dint of whacking a panel just right, managed to get long-range communications working as well. (Prometheus Unbound)

She couldn't gain access to the navigational computer without an access code, though, and started trying to get it out of Daniel. (Prometheus Unbound)

As Daniel put it, she was a fruitcake. She alternated threats, violence, and blatant sexual overtures to get him to talk (sometimes not so much alternating as all at the same time). (Prometheus Unbound)

While she was off reconfiguring things among the ship's power crystals (and changing the access code on the navigational computer so that only she could use it), Daniel escaped and came after her with a zat. She managed to disarm him and they got into a vicious hand-to-hand fight, which she was winning. After some more mixed sex-and-violence messages, she headbutted him and seemed to knock him out cold, and turned her back to do something at a computer console. Daniel zatted her unconscious and tossed her into a holding cell (literally the brig), after changing her clothes from protective kull-warrior suit to a standard-issue jumpsuit. (Prometheus Unbound)

She got him to release her by refusing to give him the codes to unlock the ship's systems even though they were under Goa'uld fire. She did help him in the firefight as much as possible, and when Hammond and the al-kesh arrived, she pretty clearly knew that she was going to be held captive again. She made an attempt to start to talk to Daniel about it, but he zatted her unconscious in annoyance. (Prometheus Unbound)

Later, aboard the Prometheus, she managed to knock out Security Team 1 and ring over to the al-kesh (being salvaged, and guarded by SG-3), knocking SG-3 out as well and ringing them back to the Prometheus. She escaped in the al-kesh, going into hyperspace as quickly as possible and jamming the Prometheus's long-range scanners so they couldn't track her. (Prometheus Unbound)

As of SGA: Rising (after his promotion to general), Jack was wearing a badge I don't recognize and can't find anywhere -- roundish at the bottom, with a rectangular shape going straight up and a circle around the middle of that. I have absolutely no idea what it is.

What was Sam thinking, to suggest the alpha site as a good place to bring a Replicator? Worse, what was Jack thinking, to okay it?

They didn't even do their usual thing of meeting their enemy on a neutral world with a security detail and bringing her through, which at least provides some level of protection -- they appear to have actually given her the correct address to come through on her own. They couldn't even be sure that she was alone when she contacted them -- for all they knew, hidden out of the MALP's range were seven million little Replicators and Fifth. This was the most boneheaded move I think they've ever pulled.

The current alpha site was the third one they'd used inside a single year. They put a huge amount of effort into it -- they built it into a mountain, they included hangars for F-302s, etc. Sam threw that completely away, and Jack let her. They both knew it was possible that Replicator-Sam was playing them, and could try to get information back to the Replicators. And sure enough. So now they need their fourth damn alpha site -- in under two years, possibly as little as 18 months. It's insane.

The alpha site's  gate's chevrons lit up one by one on an incoming wormhole. Still wrong.

Replicator-Sam sticking her hand into a monitor was a nifty visual, but... kinda useless in terms of directly interfacing with the base mainframe.

Why was the computer set up to dial the gate, if they had a working DHD right there?

I can actually see several reasons, not least that the computer would give them easy access to a database of addresses, but it would still be nice to have it explained. The DHDs are much faster at dialing than the computer is, so you'd think they'd default to that when possible.

Why were Teal'c and Jack both so insistent that Sam wasn't even remotely at fault for what happened? They both carried some of the blame for trusting her so implicitly (and Jack, especially, for approving her plans), but the fact remains that if Sam hadn't been so eager to talk to Replicator-Sam, and so willing to believe everything R-Sam told her, none of this would have happened. The core responsibility is hers.

To her credit, at least Sam seems to understand that.

Prometheus Unbound

If they hadn't made such a point of Vala  never having even heard of the Tau'ri (which I actually loved), this wouldn't have bugged to quite the same degree, but -- how could she have been that good at reading English?

I know, I don't gripe about the spoken language much, but somehow it's more bizarre when it's the written language. I can imagine that she and Daniel are actually speaking Goa'uld to each other, which has to be a lingua franca of sorts in the wider galaxy, but there's absolutely no way she should recognize Roman letters arranged into English words.

Why was Reynolds so freaked out at the thought of giving Hammond mouth-to-mouth? He's been part of a field unit for years, with the training that goes with that.

Why did the zat work on Vala? The suit she was wearing was supposed to deflect a zat's energy, making her vulnerable solely in uncovered parts (hands, head, and neck, pretty much).
