What started it all: I wanted to know what Jack's medals were.

Medals Note: Jack's medals vary slightly from picture to picture -- this is the set he was wearing in Fair Game. Prior to second season (Secrets), he didn't have the Air Medal. In first season (Children of the Gods), there are NO Vietnam medals, and he's wearing a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (with a bronze cluster) and an AF Training Ribbon. In my personal universe, this latter set makes far more sense. He's just too damn young to have served in Vietnam in early 1973, the last time the above Vietnam medals were awarded. (Besides, who could believe that Jack doesn't have a marksmanship ribbon?) Devices*: Meritorious Service Medal -- 3 silver stars Badges: Master Parachutist Master-level Space/Missile

Hammond |

Medals Devices*: Legion of Merit -- 1 bronze cluster Badges: Master Pilot Master-level Space/Missile |
Sam |
Medals
Devices*: National Defense Service -- 1 bronze star Badges: Senior level Space/Missile (?) |
Jacob |
Medals
Devices*: None that I can tell (which makes no sense at all, given that he's a general) Badges: Master Pilot |
Explanation of devices (worn on ribbons):
Bronze star: The bronze star represents participation in campaign or operations, multiple qualifications, or an additional award to any of the various ribbons on which authorized.
Silver star: The silver star is worn in the same manner as the bronze star, but each silver star is worn in lieu of five bronze stars.
Bronze cluster: The bronze oak leaf cluster represents second and subsequent entitlements of awards.
Silver cluster: The silver oak leaf cluster is worn for the sixth, 11th, etc., entitlements or in lieu of five bronze oak leaf clusters.
The Valor Device: The " V" device represents valor and does not denote an additional award. Only one may be worn on any ribbon.
